Feds meet with 'Titanic' director James Cameron on oil spill
By The Associated Press
June 01, 2010, 2:43PM
"Top kill" didn't stop the Gulf oil spill. How about something "titanic"?

Film director James CameronFederal officials are hoping film director James Cameron can help them come up with ideas on how to stop the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The "Avatar" and "Titanic" director was among a group of scientists and other experts who met Tuesday with officials from the Environmental Protection Agency and other federal agencies for a brainstorming session on stopping the massive oil leak.

The Canadian-born Cameron is considered an expert on underwater filming and remote vehicle technologies.

"Avatar" and "Titanic" are the two highest-grossing films of all time

James Cameron is an imaginative fellow. Seems like they are looking for something outside the box. Not to mention you completely left out the part that he was among a group of scientists and other experts.

This is the important sentence.

Hell, sometimes the best ideas come from someone "outside the box".
Desperate times...

I can understand them talking to him due to this.

Hell, it can't hurt anything...

Why is this a problem? If he knows what he's doing or can provide a piece of the puzzle, then we should listen. Heck, enough people on TD.com think that they are experts. Why not James Cameron? Just because he makes movies doesn't mean that he doesn't know anything about anything else.

All of you idiots making fun of this have no idea about what Cameron has done for underwater robotics. He was instrumental in developing the robots that explored the Titanic.

Cameron: Glad to be of assistance
Obama: Get serious, I just wanted an update on Avatar 2.

This!

Anyone who has ever dealt with any government employees at ANY level will understand people not wanting the Feds in on this.

Quick, someone tell our government that Waterworld was just a movie, that Costner really does not have gills.

This would be funny if it were not so fricking scary. Can someone tell me what insight a film director would have on this situation. This is crazy shite. Kevin Costner, actually spent millions on some sort of oil centrifuge(that may are may not work)And they don`t talk with him.

Robert Zemeckis was also called to help. He suggested going back in time and preventing the explosion.

Maybe they can call in George Lucas to dress in a Darth Vader outfit and "force choke" the hole shut.
