Team A is playing Team B. Thunderstorm comes through, rain delay. The umpire walks by Team A and tells them it's over but is getting official word. The umpire comes back and tells Team A it's officially over. Team A leaves and gets a call 2 hours later wanting to know why they left and get back to the field. Team A shows within 15 minutes in uniform and they are told they have to forfeit for leaving. Does the umpire in USSSA have the authority to make the call to be over or is it the tournament director?

Amen. What's bad is the tourney director told us he was leaving to go seed the teams. Why would he leave to seed teams if they were still going to play? To make matters worse a parent told him the next day what he thought and they have suspended our team until we out who did it.

Yeah that makes no sense and I'm not sure why he would do that.

He suspended ya'lls team all because of what a parent said to him? Sounds like he is a major douche. Never heard of anything like that

As long as you paid your entry he can't suspend you. He can not allow you to play in HIS tourneys, but he can't do it for the entire state/USSSA. Call the state director.

He hid behind the state director who made the call for us to forfeit without all of the info. He then became argumentative and said he never told us it was over even though he was leaving to seed the teams. We were in line for the #1 out of 18 teams, the first two teams who played us Sunday were pissed.

Yes, at Governor's games. State director suspended our team for "an adult dropping F bombs and blatent disrespect". Our team has never had a problem with anyone, we had numerous teams come up to us and say we got shafted. It ruined the whole tournament. It rained Sunday also at 2PM, they told everyone to come back at 5 PM ready to play. Not another drop of rain fell and they called it off at 5:30. Each field could have been ready in 15 minutes.

tournament director makes the call... not the umpire...

Tourney director cannot suspend you from future USSSA tourneys - just from ones he or his "group" put on ... but in the end it is about entry fees and concession sales.. so they want you in.

of course if the tourney director has the same last name as the state director... it gets more dicey but.. well...

I'll be at the Governor's Games this weekend. Hopefully we won't get shafted.

The team you're talking about is in the same age and classification as I coach in

I think at least

But yeah that was messed up, especially since it looks like ya'll had to play an extra game. They probably just called it off after they realized how many games they had left to finish. But they shouldn't have made everyone wait around for that extra few hours

As for the suspension, it won't amount to anything
