If that gave you confidence in the man's ability to lead and direct this cleanup then you're a far more optimistic person than I.

He just spoke of "looking into" placing sentries five to twelve miles offshore to watch for approaching oil at sensitive areas as though it's something that just occurred to him. He spoke of "more resources on the way" which was an implicit admission that after 38 days of spill he didn't have nearly enough already in place. He spoke of another mud ship on the way when I believe they're already on location.

He admitted that BP's damage liability depends on the number of oil gallons spilled into the sea but only NOW that mud has stopped the flow of hydrocarbons does he announce an intention to get a more exact estimate. And never did he criticize BP's ridiculously low primary numbers.

I think we have BP's lackey in control of our coastal defense. Fire the boob.

ETA: And he spoke of "dispersants" as though we should just automatically accept their use when we now know the shite they've been using is toxic.

I watched it with my 12 year old who's very concerned. We were to take our 1st father son charter fishing trip this summer. It is not going to happen in the Gulf I'm afraid.

As the rep was talking about the results of the Top Kill I noticed the live feed of the oil pouring out of the pipe. It was very disheartening.
