Well, I'm glad that is out of everyone's system.

As a native of Louisiana with several friends who got better jobs in the oil industry than they could have anywhere else, yes it sucks but it comes with the territory too. Thanks to BP and all the others for the good times and good jobs.

Now get it cleaned up.

Let your dollars do the talking, unless you hate capitalism. Right?

If you want to see the difference that the O&G industry makes in the quality of life in LA, compare the I-10 corridor to Alexandria and above.

Thats probably partially true, but if you account for the positive economic impact you probably ought to account for whatever the negative economic impact has been due to the coastal erosion and exacerbation of hurricane impacts from the crew canals that have been cut through marshes. Just sayin, the oil industry is responsible in Louisiana for a lot more than just jobs. Does it balance out? Who knows.

Good times? WTF?

Good jobs? There were more before BP bought up others and cut about 10% of the jobs by expanding probably.

There were plenty of good times in LA and plenty of oilfield jobs before BP, if they weren't here, there would be jobs thru any other company taking their place.

frick THEM! They are fricking up our entire economic system because of this shite, including about to put thousands out of work because of the seafood/iol industries now getting killed by a stop order by the feds offshore!

Met a guy from Cordova, Alaska last year which is not far from where the Valdez spill occurred. He said the fishing, crabs, and seafood has never returned to the area. That area is very similar to south Louisiana in the fact that many people's jobs and lively hood depended on the seafood industry commercial and recreation wise. This guy said the most people fished all summer and lived on what they caught during th winter months.
I fear the oyster beds, shrimping, and fishing in South La will never be the same. I am pro oil as anyone but this cleaning up maybe easier said than done.

BP doesn't love La. They are using us for profit. They have no honor. They have no morals. They don't care. The people that only consider the $$ should just walk into the BP headquarters, bend over a desk, and take it like a man. After all, it's good money - right?

Tell that to all the Cajuns working on the platforms. That bit about "using us for profit" very much goes both ways.

I welcome foshizzle and hiddenflask to revisit their thoughts a few years from now in case they happen to be wrong. I'm sure they'll be here to fess up if so.

And does anyone really think that this is not going to end badly?

/frick BP
//everyone else? carry on, just make sure you don't frick up too

Oh, and one more thing for the chumps standing up for BP, be sure and tell your same song and dance to the families of the dead from this 'accident' and the Texas City refinery blowing up. I'm sure they'd love to hear it. It's sure to cheer them up.

So this is OK, but my "GFY, BP" thread got the ax??

And to those defending BP: BP =/= the entire offshore oil industry.

From Texas City, to Thunderhorse's many massive frick-ups, to the non-maintained oil P/L that spilled in Alaska, to this shite...they're a shittily run company with a shitty record.

To state as much is not an indictment on the entire oilfield.

I heard a funny song on the radio earlier about BP.

This song is a little crude but gets the point across.

That's exactly what will happen to the gulf coast. You can't clean this shite up. Our great grea grandkids might experience how we knew the Gulf Coast to be, but don't count on it.
