Kudos to Alex Edward for his first ever LSU homerun last night with hopefully many more to follow. Alex has a relative who went and tried to find his homerun ball last night for about 30 minutes right after it happened. The ball sailed between the left field bleachers and the batter's eye. It appeared to go into the parking lot. He never was able to find it.

I know it's a shot in the dark (pun intended). But is there any rantard out there that knows if anyone retrieved that ball? It would be great for Alex to have it.

ETA: Ball was FOUND and is now at baseball office.

Heard he had relatives looking for the ball and some douchebag found it and wouldn't give it to them. I think Tygerfan can tell more of the story.

They showed behind the fence immediately after it was hit and a young woman standing down there presumably picking it up. My first thought, give it to Alex, it is his first ever homer...Unless she gave it to the coach, sounds like she decided to keep it

I doubt she knew it was his first home run. Nevertheless, she should be tracked down and shot!

P.S. I remember Warren Morris was able to get his '96 CWS game-winning homerun ball by offering the guy who caught it a signed ball and maybe a bat.

His relative immediately went to the parking lot and started looking for the ball. He spent 30 minutes out there and missed the rest of the game. I have not heard anything about someone else finding it. Thanks for the info. Please keep us updated.

behind the fence that you are talking about is an equipment yard where there are sometimes 6 or 7 baseballs from previous games and/or batting practice ... they were all back there still looking for matt gaudet's homerun when alex hit his ... they finally found what they thought was gaudet's ball ... but appeared to never find edward's ball ... in fact, after the game there were about 10 people back there looking around ...

eta: i was out in section 128 visiting with some old friends and watched the last 3 innings out there .. i had a really good vantage point of both HRs .. i honestly don't think alex's ball was ever found ... the young girl you are referring to was one section over .. she found gaudet's ball and then came back up .. we watched the search for awhile and no one came out of there with another ball ... my bet is that the ball is still back there lodged in the mud ...

It was a BOMB. Maybe it hasn't been found because it hasn't landed yet.

Just go grab a ball out of the locker room and tell him that was the homerun ball he hit. He'll never know the difference.

No, after I read Tigah Rag's reply, I went and planted a ball in the mud back there.
