I enjoyed reading this. Interestingly, Scout seemed to have a better read on many of these kids.

Almost every year, if doesn't seem to fail. There are usually the same number, if not more, 2 star guys than 5 star guys.

My bad, I misscounted. I was off by ONE.

7 Five stars and 6 Two stars.

I was impressed to see LSU's name popping up so many times early in the article. Maybe our coaches do have an eye for talent after all. Naaaaaaah

I hear you, and it makes perfect mathematical sense. There are only 25-50 5 stars each year. There are many more 2-3 stars. It is just interesting to see who pans out and who surprises. I find this even more intriguing given our recent mock draft exercise.

Seems like scout did a little bit better job projecting these guys than rivals.

I see a lot of underrated OL but that's always going to happen. It's really difficult to project what big men will develop in college.

Glad someone understands this. People every year inevitably point to the fact that there were the same number of 3 stars as 5 stars drafted as a reason that rankings are bogus without taking into account the number of each.

actually its more like 20-25 nowhere near 50....and even if 20 of them pan out they between redshirting and coming out as juniors they dont all come from the same class...ppl are idiots with their logic, like is that guy claiming he would rather recruit nothing but 2 stars??

swagga, shut up. This might be the first year in quite a while that we don't have a first round guy drafted. Get a life man, we still will have about 7 guys taken in the draft. i am getting sick of reading junk like this about how our coaches can't see good talent. Look at how we end up every single year in the recruiting rankings, we are right up there with everyone else, we had some guys that had chances of getting picked really high that had bad or not great seasons, like Ciron Black and Charles Scott. That doesn't mean that our coaches don't know how to evaluate recruits, it just means that this was a down year for us as far as producing top flight NFL players, but just wait for next year, we will probably have a top 5 to 10 pick in peterson, and more than likely another first rounder in shepphard and tolliver might even slip into the first round. So just shut up with one year of not having a first rounder, that talk is getting old

You guys can rip all you want, but the fact I was trying to get at is with recruiting, NO ONE KNOWS. Yes, OF COURSE there are more 2 and 3 star athletes out there. Who the hell would be stupid enough not to know this?

And also, who in their right f'ing mind would purposely recruit 2 and 3 star athletes if they had a chance to get 4 and 5 stars playrs? Coaches would be fired on the spot for this. There is a reason that these players are rated higher, and USUALLY those players turn out better.

The point I was trying to make was that so many kids get underrecruited and slip by the masses of scouts, that we as fans, should love to see when a kid comes from nowhere, and goes in the first round.

No, you asshats would rather point out the well known facts that "there are more 2 and 3 star players than". Blah Blah.

Thanks Captain Obvious.

I could be wrong, but I think Scout gives out more four stars. They are therefore likely to get more right on a list like this, because they pegged more players as "elite."

Rivals has ~25. Scout has 50.

Scout 300 - 2010

Just saying.
