Driving home from work this afternoon, I was listening to Scone's show on 104.5 ESPN.
Feinswog was on there talking about last night's Duke/Butler game. He said if Hayward had made that half court shot, that game would've ranked right up there with the 1980 US Olympic hockey team, Mazeroski's home run to win the 1960 World Series, etc. (which is a stretch of unbelievable proportions).
Anyhow, his point that he made not once but TWICE was that in the NBA Finals and NCAA tourney, there has never been a last second game-winning shot for the title. N-E-V-E-R.
Guess he forgot about arguably the most memorable NCAA title game, maybe outside of Nova and Georgetown. How could someone who "reports" sports for a living for as long as he has possibly forget Lorenzo Charles and Jim Valvano? How does that not count as a last second, title winning shot?
1983 NC State/Houston

Because it wasnt a shot, it was a dunk

it would have been the all time greatest coaching mistake in finals history

Tip in vs final shot is probably his reasoning.

Had he made that disclaimer, I would've agreed. I thought he was going to emphasize that no title has been won on a half court shot.
But he was adamant about there never being a game winning last second shot. And last time I checked, dunks/tip ins count as "shots" in the box score.

technically yes, but you gotta think if that is a 3pt shot that wins the game, he remembers it.
i mean, unless he really is just dumb.
