As terrible as this movie is, I gotta admit it's a guilty pleasure of mine...loved it since I was a kid.

It's intended to be a very dry satire, but it's hard to appreciate it as such.

You should quit putting your movies into categories and you might enjoy them for what they are. Starship troopers is not a great movie but it is entertaining. It is not supposed to be appreciated as a certain genre.

I'm still not sure why people think it is bad.
It has good special effects. A interesting story. Some decent acting. Some not so decent.
About the only thing I can say bad about this movie is some of the acting.
Now the two sequels are pure trash and not the kind of trash to be enjoyed.

It's basically a smart b-movie.
Some of the acting is terrible and there is some awful dialogue, but Verhoeven is one of the best at using over-the-top violence as satire. Robocop is the same thing.

I never understood why Rico didn't bang the shite out of Dizzy from the beggining. She was hotter & more down-to-Earth than his girlfriend.

Agreed. Denise was/is hot, but, damn. Talk about a blank slate personality-wise, even in her movies!
