I hate to open this can of worms again. But, every year when I watch March Maddness it just reminds me how great it would be to have a playoff system. Just take the BCS games (8 teams ) and make a play off out of it. Case closed.

Well every year I don't give 2 shits about basketball until the 3 weeks of March Madness bc every good team makes the playoffs so the regular season really doesnt matter.

What about the 9th ranked team? and 10th ranked team? What if the SEC dominates the polls and has 3 teams in the top 8, what if there are 4 teams with the same record in the 7-10 rankings?

College Football playoffs WONT work. Only thing you can do is install a situational +1, where if its necessary have a play-in game if there are, or 4 teams with the same final record.

1 Alabama 13-0
2 Texas 13-0
3 Cincinnati 12-0
4 TCU 12-0
5 Florida 12-1
6 Boise State 13-0
7 Oregon 10-2
8 Ohio State 10-2
9 Georgia Tech 11-2
10 Iowa 10-2

So Georgia Tech and Iowa get screwed? Yeah this solves everything

Fact is, you have to have a set criteria, and a set cut-off point if you want to do a playoff, and College Football is too random. One year we can have 5 undefeated, another year we can have a two loss BCS Champion.

So Miss St and VT getting left out in basketball means they shouldn't have a tourney?

Maybe they should have just picked Kansas and Kentucky to play for it all since some teams think they were left out.

Only one sport doesn't have a playoff. It's a shame.

No, Miss St and VT(Or Georgia Tech and Iowa) getting left out means that no matter what, someones going to get shafted. Isn't that what a College Football playoff is supposed to prevent?

No. Why would it? No playoff system can prevent that.

Top 10 polls, how do you want to set the entry to an 8 team playoff? Must win your conference? Okay.

Florida doesn't make the mythical college football playoff because everyone in the top 9 minus Florida won a conference title.

Then how in the hell is this going to "save" college football? Dont screw over a few teams, but screw over some more?

Your logic is illogical. Do you not get that the current system excludes the 3rd place team? You are okay with that, but don't want to leave out the 9th or 10th best team.

My logic isn't "illogical". What I'm not ok with is going to a system that will be just as bad. Last seasons playoffs would of left out Florida, and guess how they finished in the polls.

I've got class, I'll check this topic for lunch

Your system leaves out every team but two. It leaves out undefeated teams. Your system is unlike any in the world.

The only thing worse than the current system is having polls elect a champion. Another proud college football achievement.

Your system leaves out every team but 8. It leaves out teams with the same records, maybe even better than some teams in it. Your system is never going to be like pro playoffs, because the playing fields and conferences are never going to be remotely close.

Use the BCS system 4 vs 1, 2 vs 3, then NC game. When has the number 5 team really had a legit claim to NC? take 2 weeks between games and play the bowls then

Do you not understand this is arse backward logic? You support a system that leaves out every team but two. But you're arguing an 8 team playoff is bad b/c it leaves out some teams. Didn't your system leave out Florida last year?

If you are going to argue the current system is better, please use a logical argument.

One sport can't even pick the two teams who should be playing.

about as often as #3 (when 2 teams get in) if we're using criteria to judge the top 3 (if 4 teams get in)
