My favorite all time LSU athlete. I actually wanted a good picture to get signed and make it part of my LSU room.

He needs to keep that left foot on the ground.

He played 5 yrs of minor league ball then hung up his spikes. Living in Texas now and is on his year of residency to be a doctor.

Crazy to think you can be that dominant in college (at LSU nonetheless), and you can't even sniff the bigs. Yet Theriot is the starting SS for the Cubs....baseball can be a funny sport.

Isn't his BA for the Cubs pretty much the same as it was at LSU?

He said his knees wouldn't let him play anymore and the life of double A was living on a bus and making $950 a month. being a doctor sounds much more prosperous!

Also, his dad is a doctor. That dude was absolute money in college.

Matt mascona interviewed him one afternoon on 104.5. Class act. He talked about his induction into the HOF and possibility of retiring his jersey. He said he liked to see number 36 still being worn. The satisfaction of knowing someones still wearing it means more to him than seeing it on the wall.

That's just how quick he got out of the box.

I remember seeing an interview of Furniss after he hit a couple of bombs. He was asked what he thought about Tiger fans chanting his name "Eddy...Eddy...Eddy..."

In his typical style, he said he didn't know the fans were cheering for him. He thought the were cheering for Eddie Kennison over at Tiger Stadium.

Furniss is an all-time Tiger great.
