They keep saying on NFL Network that Sean Weatherspoon wants to play MLB. Does this have any effect on us going after him in the draft? Or would we just try to draft him and say oh well, just play OLB. Thoughts?

I'm sure if he gets a shot at starting for the defending Super Bowl Champs in an aggressive defense where he can make plays he'll line up wherever GW tells him to go.

Don't MLB's usually get more money than OLB's? He might just be trying to position himself for a more lucrative career.

Weatherspoon's an OLB. But with his combine performance he might go top 15 now

This is the second year in a row where the combine screws the Saints.

Last year, Curry was a top 10-15 pick. After the combine, he was a top 5 pick. This year, Weatherspoon was late first early second. Now, the Steelers are looking hard at him at 18.

I really don't want the Saints to have to trade up, but for this guy, I would not mind it.

They could have had Cushing, but passed on him. Curry had a decent season, but Cushing was an immediate impact player.

Fortunately there's plenty of good OLB's and DL's that we don't have to trade up. We should be able to get 2 good D players with our first 2 picks.

He looks like he could play any 4-3 LB spot to me (added plus).

I don't think we wanna trade up from #32. For me #25 to #40 draft pick range is where you get the absolute best talent to contract $ ratio.

If Spoon moves up someone has gotta move down. There should be a good value pass rushing DE or a plugging DT to set next to Ellis.

It looks like he will go much earlier than the 32nd pick. I was really hoping he would fall to us though.

all the interviews i see.. he says he models himself after lance briggs (whom i think he reminds me of).. and how briggs is so good at the weakside position.. so i'm not sure about this wanting to play mlb.. the guy has a great personality and wants to make the kind of impact that briggs made with the bears on a team. he'd be in a great position to have that same impact in new orleans.. starting and playing along a probowler in vilma.
