It's Scorcese and Dicaprio, so you know it's not going to suck. Great acting, shot well, awesome music, but I thought the story was just ok. I think the more I watch it, the more I'll like it, but I kind of walked out of there with a "hunh" feeling.

In lesser hands, this material probably would have been awful, but Scorcese and Dicaprio make it worth watching.

A downright perfect review.

I'd seen it back in December at Butt-numb-a-thon here in Austin, I liked it a lot then, but we were told it wasn't a finished product. Between then and last night I read the book, liked the book even more.

Went last night with my girlfriend to see it again, because I liked it and she hadn't seen it yet. But also because I wanted to see if they'd changed anything in the 2 months they had to "polish" it. I can't say there was anything I noticed being different but then that's a 2 months worth of sleep and beer to help me forget things.

The "twist" is kind of predictable, but that doesn't really ruin anything. There are a few little clues throughout the movie that when you know to look for them make watching it a second time interesting.

I really like that the last line leaves everyone thinking and talking.

Huge letdown.

Movie was predictable and boring. If it was anyone else but Scorcese this movie would have been blasted for being more of the same shite.

I pretty much figured out how the ending was going to be 30 minutes into the film. The acting was great, too bad it's just such a shitty and predictable storyline.

Good, but it would have been great if there hasn't been a run of psychological thrillers over the last decade.

The obvious "twist" was predictible within 15 minutes, but the very end was great.

Movies like this only have like three possible endings...1) he's crazy, and it's all in his head 2) he's not crazy, but they make him look like he is, or 3) he's not crazy, and gets away.

You've basically got a 33% chance to guess right. Saying you figured it out, really isn't anything special. No matter who "figured it out," I'm sure very few predicted how the last five minutes went down.

I agree with Baloo, this movie's not about "is he crazy or not." It's about the slow, Hitchcock type of reveal.

i agree with that.

how hard is it to say "he's crazy" 30 minutes into the film?

While Shutter Island wasn't horrible (I'd give it 2 stars out of 5), it simply was not a very entertaining movie. The plot and storyline were too simple IMO. The plot never seemed to truly develop until the very end.

The movie was too slow and never pulled me in. If not for the decent ending, I would have said it was absolutely terrible.

All-in-all, Shutter Island left a lot to be desired.
