Get Motivated! Seminars: Dispicable Scam

I can't believe the number of top notch speakers that are mixed up with this scam. My boss fell for the cheap $19 ticket total for the entire office to attend. The keynote speakers were Palin, Colin Powell, Lou Holtz, Rudy Guiliana, Zig Ziglar, some guy from Microsoft.

What they don't tell you is that there are other snake oil salesman/get rich quick guys sprinkled in who are there to sign up the masses for their training seminars on topics like e-trading and making millions in real estate deals. total scammage.

The most disgusting speaker was chap named James Smith who was beligerant, borderline racist, arrogant etc... but would routinely use the name of God over and over and refer to the africans he has literally saved the lifes of through his own good deeds. This whole schtick was pandering to Texas demographics patriotism and religious belief. This man no more knew God than a sign post but he was very effective at continuously dropping the name of God over and over to sell his seminars.

If this traveling circus comes to your town, stay away at all costs. Unless you have a free day to go enjoy some unintentional comedy and thousands of gullible losers.

I've been thinking about going to the hypnotherapy seminar in BR this week just to take pictures of the people walking in. I'm sure it's the same crowd.

Yeah my girlfriend went and basically said the same thing. She said that it was like a day long infomercial. She also said that she was suprised at some of the rhetoric, and that if you were a democrat you probably would have been uncomfortable.

Yeah it was scary how they played on patriotism and religion when they really had nothing to do with most of the topics being discussed.

As a Christian I was ashamed and appalled at how some of these charlatans were invoking the name of God to push their products. It was terrible. I could see them easily quoting the Torah to a jewish audience or the Koran to a muslim audience to rope them in. It was so transparent.

i would rather bleed out than listen to all of that shite.
My lemming-hood is pretty much confined to Tony Horton and Tim Ferriss.

HOrton would have been like listening to Churchill compared to these clowns.

Colin Powell was the only one worth listening to.

How is paying $19 for seeing some of those motivational speakers a scam? Sure you have to listen to the sales pitch of others but so what? Just don't buy anything.

Years ago, motivational seminars charged hundreds of dollars and you only saw 1 or 2 popular people. Their appearance fee is subsidized by sales they generate.

Yes. he was great, but the main problem is the seminar is not what it is billed to be. It is not even about motivation at all.

They don't tell you you are going to listen to pitchmen from infomercials selling you their crappy programs. They don't give you a printed schedule to let you know who was speaking when. It was disturbing how they mixed in vague religious and patriotic themes to play on their perception of the audience's bent.

re: Get Motivated! Seminars: Dispicable Scam

It was ridiculous. They also had a highly comical "beach party" after lunch where streamers fell from the rafters and beach balls were being thrown all around the toyota center while they had a "dance contest" and then they had "talent scouts" roam the floor picking out the best dancers to bring up on stage.

They clearly used plants in the audience becuase they found some really enthusiastic well dressed old people who were just way over the top enthusiastic. Add to it pyrotechnics and cheesy singer and you have a recipe for lunacy.

it was a surreal experience.

I can't for the life of me understand how people like Guiliani, Colin Powell, Joe Montana, etc... participate in this crap. It gives it a veneer of legitimacy that it does not remotely deserve

Stop complaining. You probably got your $19 worth out of back rubs from other attendees during some "teambuilding" exercises.
