I didn't know that he:

Ran 3.9 secs in a 40-yard dash

and 9.4 secs in a 100 yds.

Wikipedia:

In football, he scored 39 touchdowns his senior year, was named All-State and All-America and led his high school to a state championship in 1955. He would later run the 100 yard dash in 9.4 seconds, and the 40 yard dash in 3.9 seconds. He put a 16-pound shot 54 feet.[

I don't believe those times. Usain Bolt can't run that fast on a track.

Yea, Cannon was way ahead of his time. He would be a stud if he was playing today.

He would have left Trindon in the dust. That should tell you all you need to know.

He probably ran on a fast track. Anyway, I didn't make up those numbers.

You are very gullible if you believe he actually ran that fast.

What about from THE SPORTING NEWS???

Cannon was a 195-pound running back who scored 39 touchdowns his senior year, was named All-State and All-America and led his high school to a state championship. He would later run the 100 in 9.4 seconds and throw a 16-pound shot 54 feet.

It was on page 3.

That would project to roughly a 10.18 100 meters.

I dont believe that 40 time. I dont think ant current NFL player runs that. That was just a guy with a stopwatch. Nowadays its electronic and much more accurate.

Paul Dietzel said Billy Cannon could have lost twenty pounds and been an Olympic medalist sprinter, or he could have gained twenty pounds and been an Olympic medalist shot-putter.

I know Cannon was fast compared to the other players of his time, and hell he might be pretty fast for the modern game. But a 3.9 40? No way. Like another poster said, I'm not sure if Usain Bolt runs a 40 in that time.
