Old LSU License Plate...

So, I bought a house a few years ago that is about 70 years old and was renovated. I also have a old shop in the back that is the same age as the house and was used as some sort of business endeavor by the original owner. I was piddling around in there over the weekend and came across this LSU license plate behind a board on the wall. Being a huge LSU fan obviously, I thought it was really cool.
Anyways, does anyone have an idea about how old this thing is? I've never seen anything like it.

my guess is 60's or early 70's.
