I like that Trent is going out and signing talented players that will stay for 4 years, but in college hoops you also want a mix of that type of guys in addition to 1-2 superstar potential one-and-done guys.

If we can land Gathers, perhaps he can be that type of guy that can push us over the hump.

I've heard he wants to play out west in the Pac10. Possible UCLA or USC. I really don't consider the source to be very reliable though. I think its all just talk right now.

However, I went to the Riverside vs. ESJ game tonite. Gathers has a ton of potential, but needs to polish areas of his game. But, as a poster above said, he's just a soph. 15yrs old I believe. He should improve a lot. Needs to polish up on his 12-15ft jump shot. Dude has ups though. Sometimes it seems as though he may go to the hoop a little out of control. Overall the sky is the limit for Gathers though.

There are a couple of guys in the 2012 class that are already being targeted by Duke and UNC like JP Tokoto. Just based off of that, I don't think Gathers will be the national number 1, but he could definitely be in the top 10. I think he is in some national top 10s right now.

Ricardo is #9 on rivals. When you see Gathers, think of a more athletic Tasmin Mitchell but not as skillful. Kid is very talented but is basically ranked off athleticism, strength and potential. When it is all said and done Rico will be a top 20 or so player I don't know if he will stay in the top 10 but still to have a top 20 player in our state is GREAT

I went to the game as and I agree with this assessment. He needs polish but he was amazing raw athletic ability. He does have a tendency to walk down the court and only sprints hard when he thinks he has a breakaway alley-oop attempt. He played kind of passive last night but that was to be expected because he gets in foul trouble a good deal.

I had heard a few months ago that he liked USC a lot but last night night someone told me he likes LSU right now and he loves Trent Johnson. I also heard that #4 is going to LSU but I haven't checked out the background information on him.

I haven't gotten the opportunity to talk to Gathers yet but I've stood right next to him and he is just one of those freaks of nature.

Good no non-sense coaching will fix this.

That is something LSU BBALL has right now.

Is he a one and done guy?

Got some great talent coming up from NOLA area...Gathers, Felix, London. We have the right coach to keep them in state and give them the coaching they deserve as well.

Most of the recruiting sites have him listed at 6'6 and anywhere from 220 to 235, but take into consideration that was from his freshman year. Someone else on here may have more up to date measurables.

And he's a post player. Plays center in high school, could play PF or C in college depending on how he develops from here.
