What a waste of time...
quote:
"The visit was straight," Davis said. "There wasn't anything major that stood out, but I just liked the players and stuff. I liked hanging out with the players the most. Texas is in-state, closer to home, closer to my momma, the academics are great, I like the chow down there, and I know I'm going to be taken care of down there,"
What a waste of time...

Dude wants the chance to have a ball thrown his way. Can't say i blame him. As it stands he probably wouldn't even get a reception for a couple of years the way this LSU offense has been run.

Where does his daddy live?

The irony is that he will be behind 2 seniors, 2 juniors, and a sophomore at Texas.
And for all the talk about receivers never getting the ball at LSU, you do realize that Lafell and Toliver have both had very good seasons, right?

If getting thrown to immediately is all he cares about - good for him. Have fun at Texas. They can continue a lifeless run game while a new QB steps behind a OL with only 2 returning starters. He can leave early and ride the pine with Sweed in the pros.
It will be interesting to see who wins/comes closer to winning a National Championship in the next 4 years. Texas needs to make the most of this one - I personally don't think they even sniff a Top 3 while Davis is there.

LSU actually has poor depth right now. I bet Davis could have been a starter in 2011 if he came to LSU and met expectations.

A starter? I haven't seen him play, so I can't agree nor disagree with that.
Regarding depth - LSU having phenomenal depth at WR is a relatively new thing from what I can remember... They have always had a couple of talented starters and a couple of young, situational, or streaky guys (toss in a burner with suspect hands - note: not a Devery reference). It forced a schematic emphasis on the running game.

2010 looks like this:
Toliver
Randle
Peterson as a pass catching tight end
Tolliver
J. Taylor
J. Williams
Hunter
Toliver is leaving in 2010, so Davis would have a very good opportunity to join Randle and Peterson.

Out of state kids are always free agents until signing day. We reap what we sow.

Ideally how many WR does LSU need on the roster to effectively run Crowton's offense.

We don't even know if Crowton will be here for spring practice.

Mike Davis would have had a better chance to start at LSU than Texas since Texas has depth and LSU doesn't. Oh well.

I personally think he's fallen for the ol' "Texas is playing in the BCS Championship! Look at what LSU's done the last 2 years!" ploy... and the Big 12 is an "easier road" than the SEC.
It's not where you ARE, it's where you're going... and all other measurables being equal - SEC experience worth twice as much as Big 12 experience at the next level.
Oh, well. If he can't bring himself to get out of Oak Cliff now... he's destined to be back there permanently sooner than later.

I stand corrected.
I think my brain was stuck on one of my old Arky recruiting farks...
