This coach appears to have a good track record and recent success when he was at LSU. Why is he not being mentioned as the next OC for LSU? I don't know how to post links on here yet (new to the board) but go to Jaguars.com and read his resume. Seems qualified to me.

Who says he is not in the mix?

Supposedly bad blood with Miles over the departure of Jimbo and the arrival of Crowton

Todd Monken
Not really much experience as an offensive coordinator and the Jag's receivers aren't really impressing anyone.

Too good of a coach. Will eventually move to something higher in the NFL.

agreed, but he has know OC or HC experience. Let him cut his teeth at LSU for a few years!

Actually heard something that made sense on BR talk radio. One caller recommended Monken fill the OC/WR positions which would open up a spot on the staff for an actual QB coach.
Considering our issues with not developing QBs recently...I like the idea.

He developed two 1st Round draft picks in the same year in Dwayne Bowe and Buster Davis. That should speak for itself.

A couple of years ago people on this site would have gone apeshit if Monken was promoted to OC like Les originally wanted. Now we wnat him as OC? Color me confused.

Monken is one of the best offensive minds LSU has had had in a while. The only thing that makes me a little apprehensive about him as OC is it's been awhile since he's called plays. One of the best teachers in the game though.

How about QB/WR/Passing game coordinator? Our QB's need some coaching up & with Randle and others receivers being young he could coach them up too.

I think if he were to come back in any capacity it would have to be wr/offensive coordinator. I'd like to bring in someone else as a QB coach. The passing game coordinator really doesn't mean much, just a title, like assistant head coach.

why do people think so many NFL guys want to come and be a college coach??? kind of a move backwards

Monken is a badass coach FWIW.

If i had to guess he is in the $300,000 to $400,000 range @ Jacksonville. I would like to think he would make $450,000 - $600,000 @ LSU.
Monken would be a great hire. IMHO

I wouldn't call NFL position coach to BCS/SEC Offensive Coordinator a backwards move...unless his goal is to be a career NFL coach.
