New to the board and have read many posts that references "Germans". Please enlighten me.

Something already posted ad nauseum.
I have no idea about the origins of the term.

Germans = old news, already discussed

It is extracted from John Belushi's line in the movie Animal House (you know, when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?), and evolved to its current "Germans" from there....

Original reference from the movie Animal House, about Germany attacking Pearl Harbor.
So when a thread was started multiple times on the same topic...or a thread appears about a week after people discussed it to death, people would make comments like...
this just in...man lands on the moon
japan attacks pearl harbor
germany attacks pearl harbor...obviously stuck. Then, it simply was abbreviated to germans.
At least, this is how I've seen it explaned in the past.

it started a long time ago; someone would post something that was old news and they would get a string of various responses referencing old historic events like "we landed on the moon", "titanic sinks; many feared dead/missing", etc. The most popular response eventually was "germans bomb pearl harbor" referencing the line from the movie Animal House where Blutarsky(?) screams out "WAS IT OVER WHEN THE GERMANS BOMBED PEARL HARBOR?"
This eventually was shortened to "germans".

Tampa just remember anything you post will get rantarded responses that often times are meant to just flame you and try to make you look stupid. Don't take any offense to it. And if you misspell something then don't worry, you'll have some elementery grammar school major correct it for you

Ah......keyboard cuthroats removing all doubt huh? God I hate when testosterone gets in the way of good conversation. Always a pissing match with some. Been there done that on other boards. Thanks for the heads up though.

Also a good thing to remember is that not every subject belongs on the Tiger Rant. There are other boards for that purpose.
