Which is how far the lsu kick would have been after the lafell completion. It was too long a field goal to settle for. The coaches were right to stay agressive at that point in the game.

Just not with deep drops and swing passes.

Well the Texans actually got to kick a field goal.

Run, knowing that Jefferson has held the ball too long 25 times this year.

Plus, Jasper is the fricking man!

I would like them to have "agressively" Run a 32 blast twice, then take our chances kicking.

They also only had 9 seconds. We had 40. A couple of five-yard passes, a draw, anything to guarentee positive yardage.

Jasper made a 50 yarder earlier. Plus, when Lafell caught it, he earned a first down. There is an abundance of safer plays that could have been ran than a pass with a 5 step drop.

You can still be aggressive without calling the plays that were called. I thought this was obvious. Just let it go...

bullshite. He made a 50 yarder earlier in the game. You run the ball three more times up the middle, possibly gaining 4-5 more yards and trust your kicker.

Wrong. Jasper can kick from at least 50 yards, and He has been consistent all year. I would have gotten him out there the minute we were in range.

I know he can kick it from 50. I just said that. The odds of a successful kick go up exponentially the shorter the kick though. Remember, at that time, we still had time on the clock. Just because he's made one from 50 already, doesn't mean he'll make every one from that range.

So you try the kick from 50 yards with 30 seconds and 3 downs left?

Fail.

Gawdayum. Fo Realz? 90% of the football watching nation will disagree with you.

With JJ taking sacks for losses this year at an incredibly high rate, what makes you think this was a good idea???

So you try to defend the coaches' decision to drop back and pass, risking an interception, sack, or holding penalty?

Fail.

ETA: my bad, had the wrong poster...still tipsy from MNF

LSU should have kept running those screens. Ole Miss was bringing the house every play. We could have easily gotten 10-15 yards and have Jasper make a pretty easy field goal around 35 yards.

At least somebody's having a good time. It was a pretty good game though.

First of all, if your going to use the Texans-Titans games as an example, you really should mention that the Titan's kicker made a 53 yard field goal which did win the game. Secondly, I have yet to see anyone suggest that LSU should have kneeled on the ball three straight times and kicked it from the 32. They should have run the ball or tried anything to get in better field goal range without the possibility of losing yardage.
