USC dropped to 12. They'll be back in the Top 10 next weekend, two weeks at the latest. If they win out, they'll almost assuredly be in the top 8 of the BCS, which makes them a lock for an at-large bid.

Meanwhile, we could run the table, lose to an undefeated Florida by one point in the SEC Championship, and a one-loss Bama team lands in the Sugar. We're probably going to get, at best, a Cotton Bowl bid or back to our home away from home, the Peach/Chik Fil-A Bowl. For whatever reason, the SEC bowls in Florida HATE us and they'll offer bids to 4 loss South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee teams before even thinking about us. The only reason the Capitol One took us in 2004 was because we were defending national champs. There's just something in my gut that doesn't feel right about how our bowl situation could pan out.

So it seems to me like the ONLY way for us to get a decent bowl is if we go out and win the whole fricking thing.

Feel free to tell me I'm crazy and/or delusional. I'm offshore, surrounded by Texas, Oklahoma and Ole Miss fans, and I might need some reassurance or gentle scolding from my Tiger faithful.

If we win out and lose to Florida in the SECCG, the sugar bowl will almost surely take us. A two loss USC team won't get a BCS at large. There's too many teams ahead of them now, Boise St. Cincy. If an undefeated Mid Major team gets passed over again, there's gonna be another national outcry, the BCS knows this

Anything can happen, but if I were a betting man, I would say we will end up in Capital One Bowl against Ohio State or Penn State.

Not if Bamas only loss is to us. The SEC Championship loser always gets the shaft. The only reason Bama went last year, is because the Florida loss was their only one up to that point.

Yea, you're being paranoid. Keep in mind, there is a new rule in place in the past year or two where the loser of the SECCG can't drop below the Capital One Bowl. As for the bowls in Florida "hating" LSU, that's kinda funny. The Capital One Bowl usually gets the #2 team (#3 if two SEC schools go to the BCS) and then the Outback usually takes the next best team from the East, which is why LSU or any other West team rarely plays there, and the Cotton takes the next best team from the West.

I don't think we do. The loser of the SECCG has only gotten a BCS at-latge bid once, and that was bama last year. But bama was rank #1 and undefeated going into the game. Its always best to lose early then it is to lose late.

Plus, the sugar bowl wants a traveling team. LSU, although we would travel well, alot willdrive up for the game or just stay a night or two. bama would travel well, and stay longer

Conferences are only allowed two BCS bids.

I wouldn't assume that to be true. The deck is certainly stacked against the SEC CG loser, but these two facts would be in our favor:

1) we would have beaten the other potential bid, Bama
2) our two losses would both be to the same team. That's better than two losses to two different teams.

I'd be more than happy with that game. But my gut hunch is it wouldn't happen. Those Florida bowls see those SEC East schools as low hanging fruit and I have a hunch they'll take a mediocre team that travels great over us. It's the same reason why the Cotton Bowl almost always takes a second tier SEC West school.

If for whatever reason we go to the Cotton Bowl, it would be great to play in the new cowboys stadium. Win the first cotton bowl in the stadium.

I've never heard of this. I know someone on the committee, I'll have to ask him about it next time.

It seems to me the city makes a ton of money off of ticketless LSU fans who drive in to party all day and night. If you have a team come from a day's drive a way you aren't going to get those extra several thousand ticketless people coming to drop a few hundred bucks each on the city just to be in the same city and atmosphere and to watch the game with fellow LSU fans that they know will be there.

You're an alcoholic if you think the Capital One Bowl would take anyone under an 11-2 LSU team.

LSU likely still goes to the Capital One Bowl even if we lose two more games and end up at 9-3. After Florida, Alabama, and LSU, there's not an attractive team in the SEC for a bowl like the Capital One to pick.

Naw bruh. The f'n hotels in New Orleans bitch EVERY TIME we get a Sugar Bowl invite because a good chunk of the LSU fanbase drives in & out or only stays one night. You can set your watch to these douchebags whining whenever we get the invite.

Yes.

No matter how much they would love to have an east team, I don't think they can legitimately get around it this year. With everyone already having 3 losses besides LSU, UA, and FL, and with more losses coming for some of those teams, LSU will by far and away be the most attractive team...it won't even be close.

At this moment, the SEC is tiered like this..

Alabama/Florida

LSU

Everyone else

Why are they douchebags for wanting hotels booked four four plus nights and the FQ jammed for four nights? It is called business, jackass.

You're paranoid about 2005 and dropping all the way to the Peach Bowl. This year in the SEC isn't like 2005. There are three good teams and the rest are in the middle of the pack. While in 2005 there were quite a few teams bunched up around the top. (Georgia winning the SEC also threw a wrench into the SEC bowl selections.) 2009 in the SEC is nothing like 2005.

2007 wasn't that long ago. The Capital One Bowl would nut at the chance to get an LSU/Ohio State matchup. Even LSU/Penn State would make them salivate.

LSU is going to the:

BCSNCG at 12-1
Sugar Bowl at 12-1 if left out of the title game
Capital One Bowl at 11-2 or 9-3

Cotton Bowl at 8-4 if we somehow lose out in our SEC games

What rathole hotel or bar do you work for? Are you annoyed that you won't be able to fleece your quota of Sugar Bowl tourists when we come down there? If the prospect of LSU playing in the Sugar Bowl pains you so much, why are you even a fan?
