Schwarzenneger signed a bill today authorizing construction of a 75,000 seat premier stadium in Industry, 15 miles east of LA. Environmental studies and lawsuits have been taken care of and removed as obstacles. The group heading up the stadium has marked 7 NFL teams to be aggressively pursued to be the next NFL team in Los Angeles. They are:

Buffalo Bills
Jacksonville Jaguars
Minnesota Vikings
St. Louis Rams
San Diego Chargers
Oakland Raiders
San Francisco 49ers

I'd say the most likely candidates are the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, St. Louis Rams, and the Oakland Raiders. The Bills are an institution in Buffalo, but the city is a frozen fossil and the team is having trouble raising revenue there. The team has begun a schedule of playing a couple of home games each year in Toronto in an effort to make more money. The Jaguars have never taken off in Jacksonville. The stadium there has never been a good fit and they are the NFL team with the most TV blackouts. The Rams are up for sale and people are saying the Edward Jones Dome is outdated even though it was built in 1995. And regarding the Raiders, it would be perfect Al Davis behavior to move from Oakland to LA back to Oakland back to LA, especially after destroying a nice stadium for the Oakland A's.

What say you?

I think Jacksonville makes the most sense.

I agree. I cannot fathom the 49ers not being the San Francisco 49ers. The only reason they have been targeted is because they are playing in the crappiest stadium in the NFL.

actually they've been asking for a new stadium for a while. I highly doubt they move all the way down to LA but there's talks about a stadium in Santa Clara/San Jose

I can't believe the people of San Francisco would let that team with all those strapping young men move away to a neighboring town.

I say the Chargers or the Jags. I know the Chargers were talking about it a few years ago if they didn't get a new stadium.

All Schwarzenegger signed was an exemption bill to nullify some environmental law suits that were holding the project up. The entire thing is set to be privately funded. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen

I actually think that the Rams will move back to Los Angeles, and then within 10 years the Jaguars will move to Saint Louis and change their name.

If they moved to LA they would have to change the name. The gold rush wasn't in southern cal.

You think there are grizzly bears in Memphis?

Anyone ever find any Jazz in Salt Lake City?

This phenomenom may just be relative to NBA teams that move?
