at times. I like the kid and was happy to say the least when he was finally given a chance last year. I was VERY optimistic about our season and figured our defense would be young and still learning. As it stands, our defense is MUCH improved but the offense is HORRENDOUS!!!

I think JJ is under the mindset that as long as he is not turning the ball over, he is being effective. Game manager is the perfect title for this kid because he is just not ready to win a game for this team. Last year if JL had this defense, he would have fared much better in the win column. JJ has the security in knowing that the "D" will keep this team in games. There is a thing as being too careful.

Both QB's present a set of problems but I feel that JL should be given an opportunity at at least a few "meaningful" snaps. After all, he was contemplating transferring and the coaching staff talked him out of it. Why keep him if you're not going to use him. He threw a lot of picks last year but he did throw for a good bit of yards and LSU did move the ball.

Have we considered that the coaches may have preached to him since taking over for lee, that if the play is not there don't force it.

Turnovers represent 50 yards of offense, not sure what a pic 6 reps, but so far we're 5-1 and played much more competitive game against Florida and Georgia.

That UF game should have been an eye opener for those that could not already see the offensive struggles. I don't just look at wins and losses. For those that do, since LSU and Houston are both 5-1, I guess these teams are about even on the field.
LSU is better than Houston

Back to my opinion. JJ looked very confused most of the night. There were too many plays where he had open WR's but he failed to spot them. JJ runs the option with not nearly the correct spacing between himself and the RB so it never works. The defender does not have to truly commit to either because they are usually too close to one another. That is on him AND the RB. I like the kid and I think he will improve but I also feel that JL can bring something different to the offense. RS should be the ONLY QB running any kind of option.

Also, just a thought, does anyone feel that JL felt like he had to make plays even by forcing them? He had a horrible D and if the offense didn't outscore the other team, it was real iffy. Maybe with this current defense, JL could settle down and not force so many passes into coverage. Knowing that you can go a series or two without scoring is a HUGE asset to a QB.

Lee threw 16 pics in 8 games 7 for TD's. How good would LSU's defense look this year if JJ threw 12 interceptions 5 or 6 for TD's?

I would like to see how Jefferson would play, how the offense would look IF WE WOULD JUST CALL A PLAY AND RUN IT. I hate the BS of looking to the sidelines and waiting for the play - I think it messes with Jefferson's head and doesn't work well.

LOL @ Ragusauce26

I just think that JL might fare better with having a better defense than last year. The kid throws picks, no doubt. Also there is no doubt that he presents more of a passing threat than JJ does. I just feel that our O-line appears undersized and it is hampering our ability to run. In the SEC, if you can't run effectively, it will be a loooong day at the office. Our passing game should be leaned on more.

JJ is young and his short comings are not his fault. He will improve with time. JL and JJ could bothe be effective for this team if used together. Say what you will about JL, (trust me, I said it all and then some last year) but the kid can really throw well when he is on. He should be given a few series every game.

BTW Peyton Manning threw something like 28 INT's his first year in the pros, I think he turned out aiight. LOL I just think no one really knows if JL has improved or not but it is painfully obvious this team will not fare well against the better defensive units. Our D came to play but they also were aided by the simple gameplan that UF used to keep Tebow safe. Please don't think they could not have scored more points if they felt the need to. They moved the ball at ease almost every possession.

JJ would drop so far back for a pass and when the pocket closed in, he refused to step up so the defensive ends were getting at him most of the night. I think the coaching staff know what he's capable of so they limit his throwing. if JJ has freedom to pass when ever and he doesn't during a game like against Florida, most OCs would have put in another QB. JL has to have another chance. JJ seems to be regressing.

Look, I like Jordan Jefferson and think he has potential but right now he lacks timing and any ability to step up in the pocket to make a throw. If you watch the games again you'll notice the majority of the pressure comes from the outside requiring Jefferson to take one or two steps forward and throw down field. Instead, he tucks the ball and starts trying to find a way out to run. Jefferson is not the only problem obviously but he is a big one. Lee made many bad throws of his back foot last year but there were times that he stood tall or stepped up in the pocket to make a throw. I think he should at least be given another chance. We threw the kid to the wolves last year when we thought perrilloux would be our quarterback. Also, a big knock on Crowton is that he is not able to develop qb's. I don't see how giving Lee a chance will hurt us. He has a good arm and just as much potential as Jefferson. The only thing Lee absolutely can't run is the option but if we're being honest here, neither can Jefferson and that play should be burned.
