Not much...saying the players are coming along, learning a new system, getting better, blah, blah, blah...loss is tough...

Just got cut off but no tough questions were being asked since it's an LSU show

IMO the zero sacks has more to do with the defensive scheme rather than the D-line itself. Chavis likes just using 4 man fronts to put pressure on the QB instead of using the blitz. So most of the time you have 5 or 6 blocking 4. I think their are only 2 teams that I've seen with the talent to bring pressure with only 4 D-line guys and get to the QB(Nebraska with Suh and Florida with 2 really good DEs in Cunningham and Dunlap). I think next year the D-line will be better at pass rush and perhaps a little better at run D also because of the penetration up the middle. Montgomery at WDE, Downs and Nevis at DT, and Edwards or Levingston at SDE is what I think the D-line will look like in 2010. One thing I would like to see Brick and Chavis do more are stunts with Nevis and Alem.

0 sacks regardless of how many people rush is beyond terrible. If you want to argue the sack total wouldn't be high because of the scheme, fine. But zero can not be explained away. 3 of the 4 lineman never even get within a mile of the QB.

Even if we are only bringing the 4 DL most of the time we should still have more than 0 sacks in the pat 4 games.

Yeah, the Defensive coaches are getting it,and playing to our strengths. Even saw Alem with a more contained rush last night.Strategy must be to contain the QB's and let our strength(the secondary) tee-off. Have to give the D-coaches major props on their scheme, they are utilizing the strenghts of the talent on the roster. Sacks may be down, but look at the opponents production. The Offensive coaches, well, thats another story. I don't know what to tell you there, but it ain't working. If the O-line doesn't hold their blocks, the the conventional O ain't going to work. Either a new/quicker minded QB is needed,or get RS in and wildcat it. Got to scheme for our talent,NOT what we have in our head that we should run. Rumors have been out that the other team is getting info on our calls, before the play(whether its personnel or alignment). I have to agree,or at least it looks like the rumor has legs, from results alone. Miles looked to have a mea culpa moment at the presser,so I anxious to see what happens in 2 weeks, esp. from the mind of GC(he's got to know if something doesn't change quickly-he'll be canned for cover, by Miles). Miles is starting to wear thin on me as well. Last year it was the D,this year its the O. I'm guessing next year it will be special teams.
