Auburn Fans Put Us To Shame Last Night

Last night, a monsoon hit Jordan-Hare Stadium. Sheets of rain came down before the game and 87,000 people were soaked. And, they stayed and cheered through the rain and cheered through the game. I talked to people today who were there. They said it was incredible.
There is a lot of excitement among the Auburn fanbase right now.
Then, I watch the LSU game and the stands are half empty by halftime. The same thing happened last week against Vandy in a close game. What good is a home field advantage if half the crowd leaves.
I'm no Auburn fan, but I respected them last night. I don't think that our fans would have done that. Sad, really. This will start to affect recruiting if it continues.

I just don't get why people keep leaving the games. I live in Alabama and would love to be able to go to a game.

i was at the game myself. i also sat through a rain delay that was similar in 2003 with the season opener against ulm. about a third of the crowd stayed in the rain during the delay (myself included), and when it was time for the game, it was at full capacity. i think the fact that it was west virginia and on espn had something to do with it. i would think it might have been different if it were ball state. either way, it still wasn't that loud. i have yet to go to tiger stadium this year, but i expect the noise to be better in baton rouge - or at least i would expect it to be.

You're a stupid bastard aren't you? That score was close even in the latter part of the game. Don't talk like such an arse on this board. What the frick is wrong with you?

The stadium wasn't even close to half empty by HT this week.
Here is the PAT after LaFell's 2nd half TD
Not to mention AU actually played a somewhat legit team.

wow lots of cursing. bUt yeah the stadium wasn't as empty at either game as it looked and neither game was close. Hell we scored over 20% of vandy's points ourselves

I was at the Auburn game last year. I left with a new found respect for their stadium and fan base. Jordan Hare was louder from start to finish than any game I've ever been to in Death Valley. We get loud for periods, but that stadium was deafening the whole game through. I was envious. I hear the old timers talk about what Tiger Stadium used to be like. Wish I could have seen it.

if we were playing somebody halfway decent it would have been the same
2003 Auburn
2004 Oregon State
2007 S Carolina
remember these?
and for vandy it didnt empty till the 3rd quarter, it wasn't the rain that drove fans away from that game

Likely the shitty product on the field for the game.

Wait and see what the atmosphere is like in TS when West Virginia comes here next year and then compare the two.

Go look up their past 23 games and find me two different teams that haven't played them close. I'll wait.

Reed was at the LSU/Vandy game and saw LSU fans leave their team while they were in a hard fought battle. The following weekend he was in Auburn.
"To see fans stay out in the rain when people told them to leave and they still stayed cheering, I've never seen anything like that in my life."
