Do anyone know why we are not on this guy?
I know people down in the Houma/Thibodaux area bleed purple and gold.

He's kind of raw. Needs to develop more of a perimeter game. But he's got a bunch of talent.

Seems like Derenbecker is capable of moving to the SG position. Are we that strong at SG and SF?

Has to be grade or attitude issues.

Looks like the wing players they are focusing on are Derenbecker and Turner. Trent obviously feels they are better fits for his team.

However, I have heard Coleman has some academic issues.

I saw him a play a couple times down in Thibodaux, he's a good player; however, I'm not sold he is someone that LSU should offer(talent wise)

Well if Rivals ranks him in the top 100 then I think he may have the ability. LSU is not a top tier powerhouse program yet.

Lets not forget about this guy who was basically the same type of player from the same school. I'll take these stats all day.

Nevermind, I think LSU is on this guy.

Shavon Coleman (Louisiana Future)

Think Shaquille Thomas with a little less length and explosiveness but better ball handling skills. A definite high major prospect, Thomas is a slashing scorer and disruptive defensive player.

Coleman has Mississippi State, LSU, Oregon, Oregon State, Tulane, Texas Southern, Auburn and Louisiana Monroe on his school list.

I think he's a senior.

Shavon is on the LSU radar, he is one of them recruits that isnt being highly publicized due to grade issues. He will most likely do a JUCO run or a prep school route. He is definitely a LSU type player.

From who Trent Johnson has targeted so far in his recruiting, it seems like he is looking for 4 year players with good academics. I think he believes you have to get down with the early-entry players, or take the opposite route and beat them with experienced, veteran players (like LSU had last season). I still think he will go after the occasional one-and-done type player (especially if they are from Louisiana) or academic risk, but he's not going to focus his program on those types of players that basically have to be replaced every year.

If you can fill each class with multiple top 100 prospects like Stringer, Derenbecker, and Turner like he's trying to do this year; I think that will be successful at LSU. And then a top 50 type guy or two every other year like Isaac hopefully is.
