please explain our defense

Please enlighten me
In our defensive scheme, who has outside containment responsibility? traditionally the DE would maintain his lane, and funnel runners to the interior for the LB.
Our DE pinch on the TE/OT, with little upfield containment making it very easy to sweep the corner. Our LB match up to the offset offensive line, but always seem to have poor angles of attack against the sweep (or any other play they bump to the outside).
Who is responsible for containment?
Why did this issue plague us all of 2008 and saturday night?

As long as LSU gets the win, not worried about anything else. That's all that matters.

The DE, the OL and the Safties all have resposibilities for runs around the end. Just depends on the plays being called and the coverage. While the DE's did loose some containment, I sure did not see much safety support, but again, the plan was to give some yardage between the 20's and not the read zone. And except for a meaningless score at the end of the game, it worked really well in the second half. There were also some missed tackles that allowed many of those 3rd down conversions to happen, not the scheme.

DE must turn the play in to contain the play, if this doesn't happen, a min of 6 yards is gain on an outside run, high school, college, or pro, they all play the same contaitment

we looked very lost, and our defense definately didn't show alot of killer instict. which is the only thing that puzzles me with miles since he has been at LSU.

Depends on the play you are referring to. A lot of times, we look to be playing an over/under 4-3, with Coleman almost on the line. In that case, the LB generally has contain.
If you are referring to when UW ran the zone read, many coaches teach ( as in most option cases ) the DE to pinch down on the tackle, and leave the QB to CB / S / LBers. I personally don't like that - I'd rather force the dive by pressing the QB and let the LBers target the RB, but that didn't seem to be what we were doing.
