Are we having threads about Tiger Stadium not being Tiger Stadium anymore? fricking bullshite.

We should sell naming rights to raise money and then it wont be Tiger Stadium anymore. Maybe we could sell it to Tiger woods and have it be Tiger Woods Stadium.

Well, if you don't like it, then encourage the fairweather, bandwagoner fans to take a hike this year.
They were present en masse last year.

It isn't really an excuse; however, I think all the day games fricked with our routine.

I'm with you all this talk is bullshite it's still tiger stadium and here's to making everyone remember that. I really think these boys are mad as hell about last year and want to prove is was bull shite.

Luke4LSU, honestly, I don't mean any disrespect, nor am I trying to be a dick or pick an e-fight with you....but here are the facts:
I (a huge LSU alum and fan) am just on the shy side of 45yrs old; my dad (a huge LSU alum and fan as well) is just on the shy side of 75.....and I'm not just counting the two of us, but the literally 100's of fans and tailgaters and fans that we have come to know by live tailgaiting, and the other 1000's of fans through the years we have crossed paths with since the late '50's (dad) and mid '70's (both me and dad); We have heard the SAME shite EVERY year about Tiger Stadium, and yet, and yet, and yet, dare I say it again? AND YET, EVERY year, the national media gives us props and it is pretty much an undisputed mantra of ANY college football fan anywhere in the country......LSU's Tiger Stadium continues to have the "mystique" and noise and intimidation factor above all others......please.....we've been hearing the naysayers BEFORE the age of twitter, email, internet, facebook and all of that....don't you see? Nothing has changed....Tiger Stadium is still Tiger Stadium, and the corporate suits and hats have not destroyed it in 1962, just as they have not destroyed it coming in to the 2009 season! Now, stand up, make noise for your Tigers, and tell anybody behind you who bitches about you standing up and yelling to piss off. It's been going on for years and years, and the Stadium and crowd still is number one.
Thanks, and end of rant.

Well, it's not. Time to face the facts.

Unfortunately the problem isn't corporations corrupting the program, it's this new generation coming in.. mainly the students. I can personally attest that near or more than half of the student section comes to football games as social events rather than football games.
It's hard to maintain mystique when CBS or ESPN takes a crowd shot that shows a half-empty stadium well before the game is over.

I was there in '82 when the students chunked oranges on the field after we beat Fla. State to go to the Orange Bowl. I'm not sure they would have the cajones to pull that stunt today. I just think Joe Coonass has been replaced by Mr. and Mrs. Upwardly Mobile and the blue collar factor has been taken away over the last 20 years.

Good.
I haven't been around that long (started college in 2000), and I'm glad to hear that people have always been bitching about TS "losing it's luster", and it always being BS.
I can tell you this: games last year were NOT the same atmosphere as in 2000. That may just be that I'm older and looking at it differently.

Some people were just born to bitch, its ok, Tiger Stadium will be great for a long time

Chilge1, we used to bitch about the SAME thing in the early to mid '80's man.....it hasn't changed that much......please realize, it's that way even worse at most every other school, and in ALL of the NFL.......

It happens man, it happens to all venues....from the NFL to the Gayturds to Miami to just about anybody but Nebraska.... That doesn't take away from our mystique...when the media talks about it, they are talking about a tight game, at night, against a highly ranked team, with a lot on the line....that is the best they can hope for...(and us, for the magic moments); but they, and us, must know that those magic moments don't happen ALL the time....but they DO happen more often in Tiger Stadium, and our crowd noise gives it even more potential for that to happen....not to mention our tailgating......don't take a bad game here and there to such heart....EVERYBODY across the country leaves early when it's ugly.....we are not special in that respect for sure.....maybe that expectation has some folks disappointed?

This may be just me placing too much emphasis on the word "mystique." In my mind, if you're going to claim that you have something like that that nobody else has, then you don't pick when you're going to use it.
It's unfortunate that most don't share your mindset.
