Why did they stop making it? To me I think thats how the NFL really is.

That was right around the time of the renewal of the TV deal with the NFL, and the NFLPA balked at the show, so ESPN yanked the show in order to be in good favor with the NFL.

And the NFL didn't like that, so they threatened to end their contract with ESPN if they didn't pull the show.

I never understand the "Any Given Sunday" love on this board. It was just as horrible as that ESPN show.

I wish HBO would pick up a show like Playmakers or maybe even one based on a fictional college football program.

I worked with a guy that was an offensive lineman for years. He played with Joe Thies and blocked for John Riggens.
Said he thinks the NFL pulled it because it was too close to home.
There is a reason that the NFL put heat on ESPN to pull it.

I actually forgot about it until I rattled my brain thinking of the garbage shows ESPN used to put out. I actually forgot the plot except Madsen was a cheater and the guy was nailing his daughter.
