I recorded all of the LSU games last year and I've spent the last few weeks re-watching the games, and it occurred to me that Jarrett Lee was really bad last year. Other teams knew it, and took advantage of it.

It made me wonder how helpless his team members must have felt. I'm sure they all tried to stand behind their qb, but even that had to get old.

Also, what about Gary Crowton? What was his frame of mind when faced with a 3rd and 10? The Alabama game gave me a whole new respect for Crowtons play calling. He kept LSU in that game with creative play calling. Because, outside of a couple good throws from J. Lee, our passing games was non-existent.

I'm not bashing J. Lee.

I rewatched the florida game today

curtis taylor and some other players were setting up to block the point after by the florida kicker, and I think 5 of the 11 players actually moved in to block.

the other six just kind of sat there.

I think that helpless feeling breeds lack of effort.

I know during the Arkansas game a Hog fan friend of mine noticed that when the defense came to the sideline, most of the players were ignoring the coaches and walking and looking around, not paying attention. Bad sign which I don't expect will be the case this year.

I'm still wondering why we lined up in a 5 wide set to start off the game against Georgia and ran a Slants route.

I am still wondering why we blame JL for Florida, when score was 17-0 before first interception

Only loss that I really blame on Lee is Bama. We still should of won the Georgia game, and Florida he lead 2 great drives to end the 1st half and start the 2nd half.

We are discussing it in another thread.
I can tell you from first hand knowledge that the defense had no clue what was going on half the time. Players were getting 2 different plays called in and they were confused.

On offense players were frustrated with JL and he was frustrated. A few players felt that certain members of the offense half assed it last year.

There was also issues with coaching and plays called. Last year was just bad as a whole, it started off bad with RP and went to worse Hatch getting hurt, and JL play didnt inspire them.
The pick 6's was not their main problem, it was the fact he zoned in on players and did not check off.

This is what I know from multiple friends I have throughout the team. Granted their opinions are probably singular rather than team wide.

Miles should have stepped in early and corrected the problem, but instead, he allowed the defensive confusion to go on all season. He just let the Mallveto Monster gain strength as the year progressed. It's like he was allowing his friends Mallory and Peveto the chance to work out the problems just to prove that he made the right decision in promoting them to Co-DC's. He should have stepped right in there after the Florida game and junked the entire confusing defense that the "Monster" had installed. They should have just put in a very simple high school defense at that point. That would have been more effective than the Chinese Fire Drill we saw the rest of year.

That's makes me question his judgement and that's why a lot of big time LSU supporters/alumni question his judgement. Shouldn't have had Co-DC's to begin with and he didn't step in to correct the mistake during the season. Just let it spiral out of control to protect his buddy's...........
