I've never been more optimistic myself. Kicking and defensive injuries cost us the playoffs last year. I'd be surprised if we were as snakebitten with injuries this year, that alone should improve the defense, not to mention the talent infusion and GW. Kicking game seems to be in much better shape now as well. Anything less than the confernce finals will be a huge disappointment this year and key injuries would be the only viable excuse.

I'm the same way. This just feels like it could be a very good year...... I'm just a little surprised to see a beat writer predicting 11-5. It seems they usually try to prove their objectivity by pointing out flaws.

I'm worried about the linebackers.

There really aren't that many flaws though. Plenty of unknowns, but on paper those unknowns look more likely to be positives than negatives, especially considering where we came from last season. This is a top 10 team on paper, again, anything less than the conference finals will be a disappointment.

LB is an issue. Hopefully Dunbar and Mitchell can help out.

I wasn't until someone posted our depth chart yesterday.

Vilma is awesome and Fujita is solid enough. Shanle, Simoneau and Dunbar are all question marks IMO.

It's too early to tell about Smith and Grant, but Grant definitely looks to close to if not over 300 pounds right now.

frick. Smith better not suck like he has the past two years. McCray can be a mediocre starter, so average play from our DEs will be key. If Smith sucks, we're fricked.

Smith just needs to come into the season lighter and healthy, I think he'll be fine.

I hope there are some decent cap casualties this year. That's probably all the Saints can hope for besides hoping Shanle us better than he has been his entire career.
