Who is helping the team more right now? Defensive wise, Nola is doing a fair job- but is his bat helping out enough to warrant taking Ochinko out of the lineup to make room for Landry? Also, I was talking to a guy today that is very close to Leon, and he said that Nola's parents contribute serious money to the university and that may be why he's getting some PT. I had the same response that many of you would have by saying no way, that doesn't happen on the college level. Still don't see believe it but I just wanted to see what you guys thought. Personally, I want to see Leon in there with Ochinko seeing the bench for a while.

Nola has been stroking the ball of late.

Nola's bat is slightly underrated

he gets out alot but his RBI ratio has creeped up the past coupke games despite not reaching base

before landry got hot again, his RBI % was higher than landry's despite having a lower on base %

No doubt his bat is legit, his numbers at Catholic high were crazy good last year. If his bat goes cold during regionals do you bench him in favor of Landy or Ochinko?

ochinko has been very unlucky this season. he's had a ton of hard hit balls that just can't find holes, but he's still batting around .320. i really don't know what to change. our defense has been so much better with DJ not having to make the long throw from short, thus resulting in fewer infield hits, which we've given up a lot of this season.

It is also tough to keep Neon Leon out of the line-up after Sat. performance. Tough call!!

are we all in agreement that one of the three has to sit though? I'm not sure I would sit any of the other six. Gibbs might come to thought, but his defense and leadership are great. No to mention he's a switch hitter.

I'm just not sold on his THIS year though, we have a great chance to take home the title and I just don't think he is ready. I'd love to be wrong.

nola isn't going anywhere

RHP - start landry and schimp to first
LHP - ochinko at first schimp in left

Our Defense is so much better with Nola in there, I can't believe you asked this question. LL would never have come out if he didn't go in the tank at the plate and it started to affect him in the field. Nola is simply the best fielder we have. He is NOT coming out.

damn, we have a bunch of Nola fans on here. I just don't see it and I have been to every home game and the road trip to Stark Vegas. Seen him a lot, and I just don't think he has been consistent at the plate. He was hitting something like .204 with one homerun and 15 rbi before this past weekend. You can't blame me for asking the question. Landry had great defense last year and he couldn't buy a hit in Omaha, we need the bats.

Mainieri sees it.

You act like defense don't count for something.

He's not coming out of the lineup. He'll be our SS until he's drafted. Time to accept this fact.

Ochinko needs to quit trying to pull every pitch. He has seen nothing but outer half pitches for well over a month.

You don't believe this, yet you still post it. How do you expect anyone to take your opinion seriousley when you include this?

I would say an option to consider also would be to sit Gibbs and play all of the other 3. We would definitely lose a little bit defensively b/c Gibbs is a really solid catcher but his bat hasn't been the greatest this year. It's starting to come around.

Also, I wouldn't actually do this, I was just throwing it out there. I believe sitting Ochinko when we are playing righties is the way to go.

sit Gibbs

He is light years better than Ochinko behind the plate. He was just named to the all-SEC defensive team. And he has his BA up to .282.
