How many games?

You cant touch an ump and an ump can't a player, or will it be another $750 fine?

Tigers v Twins

what? he simply caressed the guy. i've seen players do this to an ump whenever the get hit by a bat or ball and take a breather.

There is no rule stating that an ump cannot touch a player.

there is a rule, but i believe there should be a fine line there....

if you forcebly touch a player, then yes fine em.

but if he caresses the small of a players back and (not even nudging) but basically its "hey, get back to the dugout", then no that should not be a fine.

Ump should be suspended. If a player had touched an ump like that they would have suspended him. Same rule should apply.

Ump apologizes

quote:

"You're not supposed to do that," Ordonez said Thursday morning before the Tigers-Twins series finale. "If you touch [an umpire], you get suspended. I'd be home."

quote:

Leyland said. "I have no problem with that umpire. I do have a problem with what he did. You can't do it. But it wasn't something that was a violent gesture. I think he was just saying, 'Hey, that's it. Get out of here.' "I hope the umpire doesn't get suspended or something because I don't think the man did it with any malice or tried to create a problem," Leyland said. "It was just a reaction. It was a reaction he shouldn't have had, but I don't think it warrants any type of discipline, maybe other than a fine.

quote:

Crew chief Joe West said Schrieber "shouldn't have put his hands on him, but he was trying to keep the man in the game."

I love how this is such a big deal in Baseball, but this is the norm in other sports (basketball, football, etc.)
