The wife and I have been using blockbuster total access for a good 2 years now and had been fairly happy with it. Lately they've changed come of the rules and we get much fewer movies than before. I was wondering if maybe I should switch to Netflix since it has the online viewing or just stick it out with BB? Any suggestions?

I was in the same boat you were. They switched their plan up and I left about a month ago.

Netflix is so much better, they have so many movies that you can watch online

Its cheaper too

I prefer netflix, I used them both at different times, it's a little cheaper, the exchange at the store feature at BB is nice but I live in the sticks so it doesn't help much and Netflix online movies are nice

well the store exchange is the reason we had BB instead of netflix in the first place but they changed it so that now it doesn't send your next mail movies until you return the movies that you rented from the store and even then it takes several days

If you don't have to have the movie the minute you want to watch it, then Netflix. Especially, If you don't mind watching films online.

Blockbuster is going to have to make some hard choices to stay alive. Their balance sheet is loaded with almost a billion in debt and only 100 mil cash. Whereas Netflix has 300 million cash and only 37 mil in long term debt.

Netflix can simply last longer with low prices. They can and will eventually crush Blockbuster.

So in the long run Netflix should get your money as long as you don't need to have the movies immediately. Some people will always prefer to be able to walk into the store when they want to watch something.

I went to Blockbuster for the first time in several years. I was shocked how bad the selection was. Half the store now is video games, candy and dvds for sale. Their actually movie stock stinks.

yeah, the online viewing is actually a big draw for me since we watch most of our tv online (cancelled our cable) so I'm leaning towards netflix, just need to convince the wife now

I'm thinking about switching too. How does the online viewing work with netflix, you just have the next thing in your queue be classified as online viewing and as soon as they receive the DVD it's available?

How do you and the family watch online? What kind of setup do you have?

As far as watching online there is no queue. They have certain movies and tv shows that you just click and watch.

Not all movie are viewable online.

Same boat here. I was originally with Netflix. Switched to BB for in-store exchanges. With the recent change, I've switched back to Netflix.

I'm on the Netflix three-at-a-time plan (unlimited) for basically the same cost as BB's two-at-a-time plan (unlimited). Plus you can instantly download a limited selection of Netflix movies now.

Well it's just me and the wife and if I'm by myself i'll just watch on the desktop, otherwise we hook my laptop to my livingroom tv using an s-video cable. Also I have an Xbox 360 so I can watch netflix videos using that

Then the answer is yes. Run to netflix and never look back.

I guess the only problem would be with the wife wanting to run to the store to get a movie immediately instead of waiting for it to arrive.

If worse comes to worse and we have to have something I'll spend the 4 dollars, truth is, we were spending 2.5 everytime after the first 3 trade ins for the month anyway.

Well if you and the wife are willing to watch older films and tv shows then you will never run out of movies to watch on netflix.

My sister is an older film buff and she LOVES netflix.

I've had almost no problem with Blockbuster's service. Did away with the in-store exchanges since the 3 closest stores (10-15 mins away) all closed up. My alternative is a library which hasn't been too bad either. Order stuff online, get it sent to the library and done.

I hook my laptop up to my tv via RCA composite cables and stuff like HULU looks fine. If I got a different audio cable I could get a better picture using the VGA jack my TV has.
