Goodell wants to lengthen the NFL regular season

Goodell wants to increase the NFL regular season to 17 or 18 games (at the expense of pre-season games)

I like the idea of 18 games. It would completly balance the schedule between teams in the same division:
6 division games
4 games against a division in the other conference
8 games against 2 divisions in your conference.
They would have to expand rosters to maybe 60 players though due to durability concerns of 2 more games.

I think the NFL should play 31 games, each in a different city anywhere in the world. Larry Johnson getting carry #800 on the season in Dubai (game would be shown live 2AM Tuesday morning) would be great.

as a fan who just wants to see more football, it's good
but man the players are so worn out by the end of the year it's going to negatively affect the quality. maybe if they had 70 man rosters it would help, or if they cut out a few weeks of the playoffs by cutting the # of teams

Keep it at 16 games and just reduce the number of preseason games. I'd rather watch playoff games with as many healthy starters on the field as possible

That would be the best case scenario, but just not possible. They already have the money from the preseason games so there is no way they are going to just go back to not having that money.
So if I have to choose between 16 actual games with 4 preseason games or 18 actual games with 2 preseason games, I would choose the latter.

I'd actually choose the former is 20 games is the magical number. Anything to reduce the risk of injury
And how much money are we talking about for these preseason games? i wouldn't think it would be that much

Only thing I like about this is the Superbowl being on Presidents day weekend. Giving employers a reason to have the Monday following the Superbowl off.

Drop 2 games from the preseason, keep the 16 game schedule like people on here are sayin and increase the roster to 60 anyways because injuries are always common in this sport, that's the best case scenario, but this dumbfrick Goodell is more worried about money and taking the NFL global then good common sense, he's going to cause players careers to get cut short because of his ego.

Well the part of me that just wants to see games wants 18. But I think 14 games is more fair then 16 games is. If not 18, I'd rather go back to a 14 game season.
