The most imposing piece of equipment on its way to Baton Rouge is a Daktronics HD-12 LED video display measuring approximately 27 feet high by 80 feet wide. The display, which will be one of the largest in college athletics, is to be installed in the north end zone of Tiger Stadium by the opening game of the 2009 season. The exiting board on the south end of Tiger Stadium will remain in place for at least the 2009 season.

It's only 1/4th the size of Texas's Godzillatron.

It probably isn't really possible for us to put a jumbotron like Texas's, not to meantion if they did it would look fricking awkward.

Been waiting for this for a while. I will be ok if they construct some type of upper deck in the south end zone now.

That looks like the old tiger head above LSU. Thank God if so!

ETA: Didn't see the other thread on this topic.

The actual photo of the screen under construction looks a lot smaller than the illustration.

You can tell they aren't done with the screen yet. They still have a little bit left to go. I didn't see the little part at the bottom right hand corner of it and it threw me off at first.

Yeah, I saw that and realized that they still have a section to add, but even with that it appears to not be as wide, proportionately, as the proposed illustration. Maybe they took some artistic liscense? It looks like they stretched it some to make it look more imposing.

I really don't care if its smaller than Texas', I just want to be able to see the replays clearly.

Maybe it's taller IRL. You never know because the illustration doesn't have any scale.

It IS as wide as the illustration. Without any of the graphics on the actual video board section you can't really tell that the bottom 20% or so is actually the scoreboard and the portion above that is the video portion. Color that bottom 20% purple in the photo and then the video portion DOES look proportionate to the artistic rendering.
