For all those that think officiating didn't play a role today.. That is only 2% better than us, they committed one less turnover as well. We outrebounded them by 1 and outshot them from 3 point range.

If you think officiating wasn't the biggest reason why we lost, especially by 10, you weren't paying attention.

Of course they can, but when the foul disparity is 27-13, FT shooting 35-13, and all the other statistical categories are even, then the officiating played the biggest role.

I didn't say LSU deserved to win. Neither team "deserved" to win shooting like that.

If we would have fed Tasmin on the low post all day and had the same FT disparity you would have a point, but we shot a lot of jump shots.

We certainly did get the majority of the calls today but anybody who watched this game saw who wanted it more today. State drove the basket again and again and again and drew alot of fouls. It seemed to me that LSU played flat and had a bad game. I understand that losing sux but I always have said LSU fans are the most knowledgeable and Classiest fans I know. Stansbury also said our gameplan today was to get to the ft line and ct down on our 3 pts b/c LSU defends the periemeter so good. Good luck to the Tigers in the Dance they are still the CREAM of the CROP.

- I guess you missed the many times we did go into the paint and got hacked or how Varnaudo (spelling??) was getting away with dropping his shoulder and drive into people and hooking all day long. I normally don't say that a game was determined by officiating, but when a team scores 22 points (or whatever it was) off of free throws and that is 15 more points than the other team made off of free throws...something is wrong.

Taz and Thorton went to the basket in the 2nd a LOT more than they shot jumpers. They never called Miss St. for reach in and touch fouls or contact on block attempts. LSU on the other hand... Thornton only got to the line when he was mugged.

I don't think its a conspiracy or anything, the officials just got way too swept up in the emotion Miss St's played with. Very unprofessional.

The only consolation is that LSU didn't earn the game. If LSU would have played better and lost like this, it would have been even worse.

You are exactly right. Tigercat is a sore loser. Good luck tomorrow.

I agree that Varnado got away with a lot when he was on offense; the hooking in particular should have been called, but I thought most of his blocked shots were clean.

Feel free to actually debate instead of name calling.

For what its worth, I think Miss St was the better team by a hair today. (And not by the 10 points that the officiating helped facilitate.)

they SHOT 22 more free throws and got 26 fouls compared to 13...I congradulate Miss St on the win and they wanted it more, but Varnado walked when he got the ball and did use his shoulders to push in the paint...both teams played good D...and valued possession of the basketball-6 TO each, but Miss St post style was officiated favorably!

I can agree with the blocks, but there were a couple times when our guys got hacked badly (a Thornton drive comes to mind) and there was no call. They even showed one as a replay of a "good block" and it was obvious that the state guy got nothing but both of Thorntons arms and no ball.

Why is it out of the realm of possibility that LSU could lose a game because the refs made bad calls that screwed us enough to make the difference?

like you said they shot 31%..they fricking deserved to lose
So any team that shoots 31% deserves to lose? So what does that say about every team that lost to a team that shot 31%? Were they all screwed by officials since their opponent "deserved to lose" but didn't?

This topic is spot on. Anyone that saw that game that knows just a little basketball knows where it was lost. They and particularly Varnado were allowed to maul us in the paint. I know I'm crying, but I have a right too in this case! One of the most lopsided bit of officiating I have seen in my 65 years.

Thank you. I can't believe people say State wanted it more. Did they watch the game? LSU didn't look great, but neither did State. A 10 point win with 25 more points off of free throws. Come on.

Saw that too.

What it boils down to for me is that we lost because:

a) we didn't play well; or
b) the refs took it from us, possibly because the SEC wants more teams in the tourney.

If I think the answer is B there is no reason for me to have a passion for LSU sports. The last time I truly blew a gasket at the referees was on the punt return that Tennessee touched and we recovered in the end zone in Knoxville.
