Why have so many movies been filmed in Shreveport lately? Just wondering.

Louisiana has big tax breaks so its a hotbed for movies to film here. You'd be surprised at all the movies that have been filmed locally.

I think it started with Katrina. A lot of movies had plans to film in New Orleans and had to keep production in state to keep the incentives. They scouted Shreveport and liked it and it just caught on. After a few movies, the city built up an infrastructure to support the movies so it was easy for them to do business here.

SAG is on strike(from what I heard)so nothing is going on here now. Too lazy to look it up to see if its true though.

Well, one was the tax incentives. Also Shreveport looks more like Texas than New Orleans or Baton Rouge. The Texas look helps a lot. W was rumored to shoot down in Baton Rouge at first but eventually went to Shreveport partly for that reason. I read in a movie magazine that the casinos also play a role in shooting scenes that are supposed to take place in Vegas. Those are just a few reasons from what I understand.

I didn't realize that Click and Righteous Kill were filmed here.

Shreveport got their big break because of Katrina. All the films that were filming there and that were to be filmed there moved to Shreveport when Katrina hit. The La. Tourist office didn't want to lose the revenue so they pitched Shreveport. Rumor has it plus stories in some Hollywood insider mags that the production crews liked the diverse landscape and ect. with Shreveport (along with the tax incentives) so they keep coming back.

Many of the directors have also said that NO, BR and south Louisiana in general are pretty much a shithole and they much prefer North Louisiana.

I know Costner loves it here, and I saw Sam Jackson on Late Night saying that he liked it a lot also. I think they don't get harassed here like they do in California.

Seems paparazzi don't want to make the trip down south...
