Louisiana has big tax breaks so its a hotbed for movies to film here. You'd be surprised at all the movies that have been filmed locally.

SAG is on strike(from what I heard)so nothing is going on here now. Too lazy to look it up to see if its true though.

But it sucks they have to stay in shreveport/north LA while filming.

Well, one was the tax incentives. Also Shreveport looks more like Texas than New Orleans or Baton Rouge. The Texas look helps a lot. W was rumored to shoot down in Baton Rouge at first but eventually went to Shreveport partly for that reason. I read in a movie magazine that the casinos also play a role in shooting scenes that are supposed to take place in Vegas. Those are just a few reasons from what I understand.

Many of the directors have also said that NO, BR and south Louisiana in general are pretty much a shithole and they much prefer North Louisiana.
