But it sucks they have to stay in shreveport/north LA while filming.

Actually, most of the people in the film industry seem to like Shreveport. You need to stop talking out of your arse, bro.

Agreed. We have worked with several films here and everyone(from cast to crew) seems to really like it. The food, entertainment, bars, people leaving them alone, cheap living expenses, ect. Only shitty part about here is the heat in the summer obviously. Whenever SAG gets off strike there are supposed to have a ton of filming going on here.

I know Costner loves it here
He really does. My dad chatted with him for a little bit at a downtown function and he said that all the locals are very warm and friendly. He bought a house here, but i think he might have sold it.

It's not unusual at all to run into celebs downtown

Many of the directors have also said that NO, BR and south Louisiana in general are pretty much a shithole and they much prefer North Louisiana.

Interesting, I have heard many say the opposite. They say the weather is miserable and there is not much to do when you have time off unless you want to gamble or drive to Dallas. I have not worked up there yet to say so myself but that is what I hear from guys who have worked up there.

I lived in Shreveport for two years and worked at the Tinseltown.

They filmed so many movies there and there are always celebrities coming to the movies.

I met Jude Law, Kevin Costner, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Nick Cannon, and most of the cast of The Great Debaters.

They all love Louisiana, mostly because they get treated like people and everyone is nice.

The old Convention Center downtown is now a movie studio where they shoot alot. There is also another studio across town as well.

The studios also love the tax incentives.

Damn I didn't know that was filmed in Louisiana. I love that movie. I always turn the tv after a movie end and never read where they filmed a lot of movies at.

Like I said before, the crews kept saying the weather was miserable there. There was a Los Angeles based crew who worked up there one summer/fall and then worked down in New Orleans the following spring/summer. They said it felt much hotter up there to them and it made working outside miserable. They were in the running for another movie up there and they kept saying, "I hate working up there." As I said before this is just what I hear crews say down here. Really I don't care as long as I am working.

they do a great job getting locals involved in the movies as well. I was in W and had a great time doing it. All the celebs loved it here. They all love going to the Phoenix Underground downtown. Costner bought a house in Southern Trace and Sam Jackson was building one here as well.

I thought Roscoe Jenkins was filmed in Georgia?

Year One looks like it could be really funny this summer. Good for Shreve to get these kinds of movies.

I think some production company converted the old Western Electric facility into a studio, too.

From what I've heard, basically the only complaint you ever hear is an occasional one about the summertime heat. Can't do anything about that; otherwise, I think the fact that stars like Costner and Samuel L. Jackson are building homes there speaks volumes about how they feel. Compared to the Los Angeles area, most people would choose Shreveport any day.

ETA - Now, the locals just need to convert Costner to being an LSU baseball fan. He loves Cal State Fullerton, and also Texas b/c he's good friends w/ Augie Garrido. But, he needs to get on board w/ the #1 college baseball program in the country
