Saints owed money

If the state doesn't meet the payments required by the contracts, the Saints and Hornets could leave the city.

I believe Saints ownership is looking for any chance to leave for a major market. (San Antonio) The Saints have a great and loyal fan base but with the ownership and the league it is all about the money. Its sad but I don't expect them to be in NO more than two more years. As for the Hornets, NO has never supported basketball and they will move to a different market as well. JMHO

Benson was quoted as saying he turned down a Billion dollar offer for the franchise, if true, why would he leave for San Antonio, a place that is smaller than the Superdome, and a place where they had to try desperately sellout the 4 games they had.

I doubt the Saints leave any time soon. As for the Hornets, if they keep winning they'll keep filling the stands.

I like the Hornets, but I can live without them. The Saints are a different story. I'll burn down the entire state if the Saints move.

This happens every year, and somehow, every year, the money is found.

The "deal" with the Saints easily the worst decision by Mike Foster.

A lot of cities would court a franchise in this economy. Having an NFL franchise will generate revenue, tourism, and create more jobs. Then if you get to host a Superbowl, you get even more revenue.

What city will throw millions of TAX dollars at a franchise RIGHT NOW? Who? California cannot even pay back its citizens who overpayed on their own taxes. The NFL will not allow him to move to San Antonio who doesnt have the money either anyways.

Thanks for coming and giving your worthless opinion, asshat.

The State of LA is in the strongest position it's been in since at least the early 1980's with the Saints (when the Dome was still new) and stronger than ever with the Hornets.

Both deals will get done and the 2013 Super Bowl will be awarded to NOLA this summer. I'm hopeful that the State also is able to negotiate a return of the NBA All Star game to NOLA in 6 or 7 years with the renewal of the Hornets lease.

Apologize for ruffling feathers. I don't want the Saints to leave. I just believe that greed will take over and the ownership will look to move the team to a bigger market. I'm a Cleveland fan first and I remember when they stole our franchise away and sent it the Baltimore. I hope this doesnt happen here.
