Suicide in downtown Houston yesterday...

Guy jumped off a parking garage near 3 Allen Center and the public library. I could see the scene from my office (didn't see the jump - just the aftermath) but can't find any information on it today. Did anyone else see that or know anything? Looked like a fairly young to middle age guy in a suit. Freaked out everyone in our office.

Yeah, our office is the Heritage Plaza. That shite was nuts. They left the body out there for long enough, I mean shite.

People in the financial industry are dropping like flies right now.

Same thing about 2 years ago for me. But this was off my building, 10 stories. Young courier, 20 or so, went to the roof and jumped. Landed on main drive between building and parking garage.

I'd say they are dropping like rocks, instead of flies.

That was our guess. I know Citi laid off a bunch of guys recently. Also heard that Cimarex had a layoff yesterday so we thought that might be a possibility.

And to the other poster- yeah, they left that guy on the ground covered, for a couple of hours. I heard they were waiting on a coroner/medical examiner or something like that.

What's tough for the financial guys right now is that if you get laid off no one is hiring in that sector.

Man, that is sad, but I feared this may start happening with super stressed out guys in the financial industries. Too bad he didn't seek some counseling, but there may be other things at play than just a job situation.

Another suicide off the Wedge Parking garage this morning. I work in the Wedge International Tower which is right across the street. Apparently he tried to slit his wrists and that didn't go as planned. He then tried to drive his car through the steel cables and that wasn't successful. He ended up jumping/falling from the 12th story which ultimately did the trick.
