stronger run or pass defense?

Without looking at stats, my impression is that over the last few years, the Tigers have almost always been stronger with run defense. They have defended against the pass well, too; but it all seemed to start with stopping the run and pressuring the quarterback.
Beyond just the overall defensive rankings for Tennessee, what aspect of Chavis' defense has been generally stronger?

How bout a little bit of discipline and having players in thier right positions?
Also alot of pass defenses are strugling with the spread/

Pre-Saban, our secondary got regularly torched but has been purty strong before this year- from what I recall off the top of my head.

For the past few years... with the obvious exception of this year, all aspects of LSU's defense have been well disciplined.
IMO, the secondary has been better than pretty good for the past several years. But the run defense at LSU has been very stout-- always top 5, and the pass defense maybe top 10 or so. Until mid last year or so, I felt it was nearly impossible for opponents to run on LSU, but they might get a little luckier passing. Just my opinion.
I'm just curious if other people have observed Chavis coached defenses being more successful with one aspect or the other.

Great Great run defenses, smart-well coached linebackers.
His soft coverages have always been his weakness. Although the past two years Eric Berry made Chief look a lot better in the secondary!

Well run defense, because that's typically the easiest thing to defend for any defense, unless it's the triple option. Regardless of how good you are, you'll always have trouble with great QBs and spread offenses.
Defense under Saban and Muschamp was stronger against the run for the above reasons. However, we weren't weak against the pass because both are incredible at preparing DBs for the next level.
For 2005 and 2006, I'd say we were stronger against the run. For 2007, I'm actually going to go with pass defense. When Glenn got hurt, our front started to slack off. We had some bonehead mistakes that nearly cost us games from the front of the defense as well. Sanders, Highsmith, and Beckwith also lacked at times last year, which Jackson/Zenon/Steltz/Taylor were turnover forcing machines.
