Ahhh, yes. Remember the glory years of the Kingfish....

Would go out to Heartbreak(now the Gold Club) or Baxstreet til closing time. Then pile into someone's car and head to Breaux Bridge. Party until the sun came up. Head back and stop at a truck stop or something and eat $50 worth of grits, eggs, hash browns, or whatever. Got more than a few stares from the local yokels.

What is so disturbing, is that I never "tripped," "rolled," "tweaked," "inhaled," or "chased the dragon." Good ole 7 & 7 or Budweiser is all I needed.

Sounds alot like "The Outer Limits" at the Duson/Mire exit (mid to late 90's).

Some of the same crowd, just a couple years later. We were asked to leave the parking lot in the morning plenty of times

I partook of a few Kingfish nights circa 1985 to 1988, to it's full experience, and my brain is much more swiss cheese for it..but damn if it wasn't fun.

For those younger posters: The kingfish was the after hours club of choice in the late 80's & early 90's. When they shut it down, it was re-opened in 2000 & called the Firestone.

This club will go down in history as the wildest place I have ever partied. I have been to raves all over the country. Ultra music festival in miami, Club La Ve La in panama city florida, the lizard lounge in dallas, ect. The kingfish / Firestone was 10x better than all of those put together in my opinion!

Before the afterhours scene was shut down in lafayette, I was a frequent guest @ all of the following clubs:

Mako's
Outer Limits
Kingfish / Firestone
The Level / The Matrix

I do have some pictures of the firestone @ my house, but I'm offshore right now. The firestone was shut down right about the time the government started claiming that MDMA causes irreversable brain damage, which is complete bullshite! They had those brain scan post cards that looked like MDMA made your brain look like swiss cheese, this was also bull shite.

Check out this: LINK

Click on the pic that says "Ecstasy Rising", it's a documentary by peter jennings on the drug Ecstasy. You would be suprised how much you don't know about this drug. Enjoy!

Bubba3524 has a ton of music from back then. He spends a lot of time contacting the Dj's who worked at the Kingfish and other similar type clubs in LA and Texas and collects as much music from that time as he can.

Oh and Stu, that is exactly what I remember as well.

Kingfish was the shite in the 80's
OuterLimits was happening in the 90's
Kingfish would open only on Halloween during the 90's before they reopened as Firestone.

Other clubs during the 90's
The Plaza in Laffy
Intersections in NI
Kenny Key West in NOLA
Club La Ve La, Panama City

Many, Many, Many Saturday nights we would start at the Keg on the Strip then head to Outer limits, stay there until 4 or 5am in the morning then get on the road and drive to NOLA and get to Kenny's around 6-7am just in time to hook up with more tabs and roll until 9 or 10 in the morning then head back to Laffy. What a time we had between 1993-1996.. WOW!

Does anyone know where I can download a copy of the oprah episode on ecstasy from september 2001? I found a link on eroid but I can't open it with the proxy server i am using. I'm not even sure if that is a download link or not? If anyone can find it, post a link please.

FWIW, the oprah show "what every parent should know about ecstasy" was a huge crock of shit! I just wanted to put it on my ipod so I could get a good laugh!

See I thought that The Kingfish was the Plaza Theatre. I didn't know the kingfish was Firestone. I think I went there once, but we didn't go in, we just sat out in the parking lot.

If it is the afterhours club, the story I heard was that when the cops would hit the place, the sound of pills, bags and syringes being tossed across the floor was deafening.

let's not get too carried away

I spent some time there, albeit towards the end of the era and I saw weed, lots of X, a little coke and mostly drunkenness

I remember the DJs spinning mixes that would be song after song for 4 hours, I remember people standing on top of the Speakers and dancing until the bouncers asked them to get down. I remember seeing many people making out and doing other things both hetero and homo and I remember having to go outside to get some air about 20mins or so because the place would give you claustrophobia

but I don't remember too many heroin addicts or speedball freaks shooting up on the dance floor
