1st - The guy has done a great job at LSU. 11-2 (3times). SEC championship and NC. Pulled out very close games against our biggest rivals. Also, has the best record of any SEC coach the past 4 yrs.

2nd - Has continued what Saban started. Thats great recruiting classes and pretty much locked down the state of La for LSU.

3rd - Made good decisions on kicking players off the team ( RP ) Yea, I wish the kid would have had his head on straight but that was for the good of the program. Long term thinking. You win a NC and all the eyes of the NCAA are on you.

That bein said, If you look at what Miles did last year...its not to far off from this past season. Last second play to beat AUBURN, "5" 4th down conversions to beat FLA. Chad Jones sacking JPW causing a fumble to win the game. Horrible pass from Tenn qb intcepted returned for a TD late in 4th qtr. All those big plays could have gone the other way makin LSU have a 7-5 year. I know, "sometimes your the bug and sometimes your the windshield"....But besides USC and FLA, what other team has just as much or more talent than LSU. Look at FLA this year. Tons of talent and Meyer is using it to the best of his coaching abilities. Beating teams by an avg of 30 or more. Thats what LSU should have been doin ever since 03! All Im sayin is Miles has way too much talent to be in so many CLOSE games. It finally caught up to him this year. Same can be said about 05-06 season. Should have had another NC in those years. I have a LOVE/Hate relationship when it comes to MILES. I hope he proves alot of people wrong and makes the correct changes in the off season with a new DC and kicks a few asses on the team. I believe he will and LSU will go 9-3/10-2 battling BAMA and Auburn for the west title. Auburn isnt goin anywhere. TT left that team with a ton of talent.

I love how people keep picking Florida as their example, ignoring, for instance, that Florida lost 4 games last year. People have short memories when it comes to college football. Oh yeah, and Saban himself was notorious for playing close games against inferior teams. Who cares as long as you win.

You can make any argument you want as long as you ignore the right things.

should we all have seperate threads for "my take on miles"? IMO, this could lead to lots of lengthy threads

Im in no way suckin sabans dick! I dont care for saban. He's a great coach but the guys at another school...so oh well. I dont hate or like saban. I know exactly what FLA did last year. They lost 4 games with the heisman winner. Im just sayin over the last 4 years Miles has had way to many close games with the talent he has. With out having some huge breaks last year LSU is lookin at 8-4 or 7-5 in the 07 season. You cant deny that.

IMO, LSU has not had a great defense since Miles has gotten here. I don't think Pelini's scheme is good, and I definitely don't think Malleveto running Pelini's scheme was good. IF we can hire a good DC that runs an aggressive defense and looks to dominate other teams rather than playing soft "bend-but-don't-break" defense, you'll see LSU start to dominate other teams like they should be.

This is what I love about LSU fans. The absolute denial of the world around them.

Last season FLA and AU were top 15 teams. Ala was played at Ala and they performed exceptionally well. Seasons like FLA had this year are truly rare in the SEC. You are simply not going to beat everybody by 30. Newsflash --- all SEC schools have damn good talent. It is the coaching of the talent that won those close games. That is what great teams do --- find a way to win.

First off, stop with the emoticons! Thats gay!
second, I agree that the SEC has the most talented players. But its easy to say LSU/FLA have the most of any other SEC team. Having said that, LSU should have destroyed Kentucky,ARk and Bama last year. LSU won the NC ( and they were the best team in NCAA but Miles didnt do his job. It took the luckiest damn season I have ever seen to win the NC. SO you actually thought last year was a great coaching???? Get the frick out of here!!

I think this is a good post. In reality, most teams that go all the way, win a series of close games that define their season. Last year, we made the plays because we had a confident team, great senior leadership, and a gutsy coach that the team got behind. This year, we were coached poorly on defense and had imploding QB play that broke the mojo of the team and made few clutch plays in big games ( Auburn the exception). Miles is a good coach and needs to get better coaches on defense and pay closer attention to the OC and DC's activities. Contrary to popular rant belief, no team wins like Miles won without coaching regardless of the talent -- fine line between winning and losing in the SEC.

on a side note, im sick to death of retards on here thinking they know more about football than Les Miles. the mans been around some of the brightest minds the game has ever seen, he's lived football every single day for the past 30 years, i assure you, he knows more about playing the game at its highest level than anyone else on here. hes not perfect, obviously, no one is, but i love him, faults and all, and there's no one id rather have at the helm of LSU right now.

also, people need to stop with the moronic "our talent is right behind USC and FLA." just stop. its not. its not even close. you look like an arse when you say things like that and then use it as some kind of "proof" that miles is under achieving.

You were making some good points up to this point. Now your just an angry MORON! Everybody in the sports world knows LSU has one of..if not the most talented roster out there. I think everybody would agree that miles has forgotten more about football than most of us know. I understand the game of football, played it up until my 2nd year in college. I know Miles knows more than me or I would be a Div 1 coach. But I know when someone is underacheiving. If it wasnt for the luckiest damn season in football and winning the NC You would be calling for his head

Im not saying this because of what happened this year. I understand that this team had to rebuild a lil bit, and the qb/DC situation was freaking horrible. But with all the talent and 1st rounders Les has had the past 3-4yrs shouldnt have been in so many close games. How many 4th qtr come backs did JR have to illustrate?? Every great team must play in some close games to actually see how great they are....but damn, it doesnt have to be every freakin week.

On beating teams by an avg of 30! I dont mean every damn team on the schedule. But most of them. ARK, OLE MISS, Ms ST, Kentucky, Bama 03-06, and all OOC teams. Say what you will but those teams(besides bama now) dont have the talent LSU has. LSU should handle up on these schools very easily. But somehow its always in question up till 4th. Its just irritating as hell.

The only time LSU was lucky that year was after the SECCG. USC got screwed! That year doesnt even compare to how lucky 07 team was: Auburn, Bama, FLA, Tenn, Pitt vs WV games!

im not saying we dont have tons of talent, we do, of course we do, but name one position, even one, where we have the best player in the country or even the SEC. Big Herm is the only one even in this conversation. when your offensive guard is your best player, youre probably not the the most talented team in the country.

That could be said for any team. Im sayin the most talented TEAMS. overall talent! Id Put USC, FLA, LSU 1 2 3 as having the most overall team talent. Not sayin LSU has the number one player at every position, that would be moronic to assume. In my personal opinion USC and LSU have had the most talented teams in the country since 03
