If I go in and do what I’m supposed to do, I can go down as one of the greatest players in LSU history.

His words not mine. I hope so but he is not lacking on the confidence side. I hope he is percy harvin and Pat white about 12 plays a game. We have to have a qb who can throw to win in the sec, i hope he can. I still think Lee and JJ will fight it out for the starting job with LEE winning.

he probably should just shut up about how good he is, until he actually proves himself in an LSU uniform.

Apparently he hasn't looked into who all has played at LSU. He needs to just do his best and hope to become a starter who contributes positively.

XOXO,
RP

i remember when everyone in the country said that keiland williams was the best recruit that lsu had ever landed. still waiting on this to show it's "face". so, r.s. needs to be a little more conservative on his speeches.

I agree that these two will fight it out, but I think JJ ends up winning the starting job. He has more up side potential right now. I think if he can improve this offseason he will be the next LSU quarterback to hold the crysal football.

Yeah, didn't Perilloux say he was going to win 3 heisman trophies while he was at LSU?

Likely very true. If you can walk the walk its not bragging.

I completely agree. The highlighted part is the part RP forgot about. If he doesn't do what he's supposed to do, then he'll just be another "could've been" player.

Bet you said the same about RP.

It ain't walking the walk until he actually enrolls at LSU, puts on a uniform and does something great. He has yet to do anything, so his comments are garbage.

Before this thread goes too overboard on making character judgments based off of one line quote excerpts passed along through the grapevine, here is the whole quote that the line is coming from:

quote:

“I’m the first one to tell you that hype is hype,” Shepard said. “I have to go in and prove myself to teammates and to my coaches. I’m not going in with a big head. I’m going in as a freshman, somebody that has to work their way to the top. If I go in and do what I’m supposed to do, I can go down as one of the greatest players in LSU history. I’m all for the challenge.”

RP said he would win the hiesman his freshman year....everyone knew at the time it was just overconfidence and shite talking....

shepard's comments show that he knows that he has the ability, but will have to work to put it all together....

sounds like a good dose of healthy confidence to me....something the rest of the team could use...

looking forward to having russel as a tiger...

RP was arogant. Shepard will likely be one of our greatest players ever. He can pass, he has great field vision, and if he is allowed to be a starting QB rather than a lame duck that comes in to run the option 5 times a game, he will score many touchdowns with his legs. He has a great attitude and is a humble leader. What is garbage are those that want to start negative shite about the likely greatest player to ever come to LSU.
