Observations of BBall team

Of course this is based solely on tonight.
Spencer- I'm impressed. Had a few bad passes, but for the most part was solid at the point. Played tough D and ran the team well. Also hit the open shot when it was there. He did force a few shots, still a huge improvement running the point.
M.Thornton- D is much improved. Alot more active on that end of the court. We know what he can do on the offensive end, although he still forces a few. He also reb's well for a SG. It will be key for him to stay out of foul trouble though.
Taz- Still looks rusty. But, I like him at PF. He rebounds well and finishes well around the goal. I think by the time SEC play comes around he will be rounding into form.
CJ- If only he could add a little muscle. I still think big C's will give him trouble because of is lack of bulk. But, he can step out and hit shots and his length and spring will help out down low. He needs to learn to not try and block every shot as he gives up easy points alot of the time.
GT- I like him at SF. He is a well rounded player and looks to have a little more confidence in his offense this year. We know he's solid defensively. This team needs him to provide a few points, especially if MT isn't lighting it up.
T.Martin- Maybe it was just this game, but he sure looks like the same player as always. But, some reports have said he's looked better so I'll hold out hope. I thought he looked horrible tonight. Seemed to rush everything. Hope he plays better, for this team to be really good we'll need better play from him.
Q.Thornton- Was actually solid tonight. Finished a few around the rim. Should provide some good rest for CJ and Taz at times. This team will need that.
C.Bass-Looked solid running the point. Again, should help give Spencer a rest.
Storm- Didn't see him much. Again, I think we'll need a few quality minutes from him as the season progresses.
I like this team. I don't think they're Top 10, but I think their a solid Top 25-30 type team. On any given night though, I do think they could play with anyone. I suspect they'll have some problems against Big Physical teams, we'll see. At the same time, if MT is hot and Spencer can keep playing well, I can see this team being pretty darn good. Especially if Taz continues to round into form and kids like Bass and Warren keep improving.
Also, I like Coach TJ's demeanor on the bench. He also seems like he knows when to call a TO and when to wait for the TV TO, which is much better than the previous coach. I think we got a good one with this hire.

we need to work on our fast break

I didn't really put Farrer or Graham in there because they didn't play until garbage time, which was the last minute.
Warren only played a minute in the 1st half and never came back in, but I think he'll be more of a contributor than the other 2.
Judging by the past, I'd say that Farrer could give us a few minutes if need be. But, he struggles on D and I think that's why he'll find a seat on the pine mostly.

Perhaps a former Duke A.D. is good for something...

This team doesn't have a lot of good ballhandlers thet blew 5-6 fastbreak oppurtunities tonite. They get better shots in the set offense than most teams, and play very good D.Should be a fun team to follow you guys should try it.

This is the first game I've seen him force his shot. He still had a good game though.

This was by far his best game so far. He played very physical, especially in the second half. Tonight might have been his coming out party after the injury. He was a rebounding machine.

This guys game is so unique - he's got really good footwork and hands for a 6'11" guy. I also like his attitude on the court - he looks like he's having a blast out there. I guess the jury's still out til we get into SEC play, but I promise opposing coaches are not looking forward to facing him.

He is certainly filling up the stat sheet, and looked great tonight. I'd love to see him penetrate more.

Q did have a good game tonight.
I agree that this team needs to work on their fast breaks...seems like we are not spreading the court wide enough and drawing the defender away before making the pass. I'm sure TJ will work on this.
