So What Should the Criteria Be In A 3 Team Tie...

for a conference or division title?
Best win?
Worst loss?
Combination of both?
Dependent on venue?
Dependent on key players (for either team) being injured?
Performances against common opponents? (and do you qualify that with the previous two criteria?)
Personally I would go a little simpler. Instead of the highest BCS ranked team of the three getting the nod, use the BCS to eliminate the worst team, then go head to head with the other two. In this scenario UT would get the nod. I just don't want to see head to head not have any bearing on the tie breaker.

I like this idea. I've always thought with 3-way ties, you should find a way to eliminate 1 team, then start over with tiebreakers for the other 2.
Whats screwy here is I think OU is the best team (and most UT fans I know basically agree or at least admit they want no rematch (hell, I was a huge Tenn fan last year, rooting for them to win the SEC E )). But UT may be most deserving.
Te other thing you could look at in the 3-way is best SOS. Thst would knock out TTU and their 2 1AA team playing asses.

Sincere question.
Do you really believe this or are you really more of a Texas fan?

I have no bias either way. I just think it is better than strictly using BCS criteria to determine a conference championship.

Yeah, and I think that's why ultimately OU will end up getting the South title. Thing is, as someone said in another thread, head to head can't be included because if you do, then TT is back in the mix.
So for the BCS when the computers are factored in, OU's SOS will be the deciding factor.
OU has wins over two top 25 teams, including one that will win a BCS conference.
UT has the win over Mizzou which is a better North divsion victory than any OU has, but their OOC is not good compared to OU's.
It's about as close as it can get, even when you compare their common victories. Every instance where one school has an edge is offset somewhere else.

well if each conference picks their own tie breaker...whoever doesn't go can blame themselves.

Oklahoma was beaten somewhat handily on a neutral site. Of those three losses, Texas's was, for lack of a better term, "the most impressive".
So What Should the Criteria Be In A 3 Team Tie...
And no I'm not a Texas homer, I can't stand the Longhorns.

have an 8 team playoff. that would solve all of the problems...

Me too. I think they'd beat Texas if they played now.

But they don't play now. I think UT is clearly the most deserving considering all the factors.

I can't imagine anybody is "clearly" more deserving when comparing OU and Texas. No two teams have ever been more even.
the head-to-head doesn't work when there is a 3-way tie. Maybe, maybe is TT also had OOC losses you could eliminate them. But they are all top 10, 1-loss teams. OU will probably finish with the overall toughest schedule (Cincy and TCU).
People want to elminate TT because they OU looked so good against them. Anybody see the irony?

This is one of the Big 10's criteria if they have a multi-team tie without head-to-head tiebreakers.
