Very sparse crowd today in the old Box. Austin Ross started for purple, and Nolan Cain for gold. Both had fine outings, the batters looked incredibly cold.

Gibbs and Schimpf both hit back to back solo bombs for gold.

Ochinko hit a deep, deep solo bomb for purple.

Game ended 2-1, Gold.

A few notes:

Davis, Reine, and Ardoin have definitely been cut. No word on Taylor Martin.

Matt Ott came in for gold and looked fanastic. The kid can really throw, and I think pitched 2 perfect innings.

Hanover is a small kid, smaller than Schimpf. Looked athletic in RF for gold, though.

Mahtook generated more bat speed than anyone else on either team.

Nola didn't have an opportunity to do much.

The competition for outfield spots should be interesting.

I don't know where to throw a guy like Gaudet in our lineup. Ochinko should clearly be 1B.

Haydel had a nice rip for a double. There is a zero percent chance of him getting cut. He is clearly the leader of the team.

Really, a quiet day for everyone. But hell, y'all need to come out and watch for the next two days if y'all can.

Nolan Cain did a really good job on the mound. It's nice to see him finally getting it right. I hope he keeps up his strength and is a big part of the team.

I agree with Buzzy Haydel being the leader of the team. He missed a fly ball in the sun today and got a lot of crap for it, but made a great one later in the game, right in front of the purple seats. Good to see that he can take it from the team, and still show them he's got talent.

All in all, pretty impressed with a November game. Really beatiful day in the Box, and it was nice to be back there. I really suggest you head out there if you can to have some last few moments. I know we all said our peace a few months ago, but it's nice to have some final closure.

Hasn't translated to great production at the plate imo

Thanks for the update, TigerLaw!!! Some of us are a little far away to make it in this week, but it's nice to know what I'm missing!

No, I had not read that. And apparently, either did anyone else around me, since none of us knew whether he had for sure been cut or not. Thanks for the info...I guess.

Wasn't Reine supposed to be a stud?

It was just a general observation. I know you've seen him practice quite a bit this fall. I hope he can get his timing right.

Still there yesterday. I believe we had 37 on the roster after the cuts to Reine, Davis, Martin, and Ardoin.

LSU has done a great job (as they always do in their marketing dept) of promoting this...

Is this a full 9 inning game? Earliest I could get there today would be 5pm. Is it even worth the effort or will it be over by then?
