My wife bought my xbox 360 about a year and a half ago. She says she bought the additional 3 year warrsnty from Best Buy.
I got the red ring of death tonight.
Will best buy just give me one to replace it or will they tell me I have to send it back to microsoft?

They'll give you a new one. They should, anyway. That's what the extended service plan is for. I used to work at Best Buy a few years back (before 360 and PS3), but I have exchanged a 360 before with no problem. If they give you any shite, take it to management.

If he wants a gaming machine, why would he want a machine with a vastly inferior library of games ?

That may have been true before, but I'm afraid its not the case anymore. If I could do it all over again, I'd do PS3 in a heartbeat.

I have all three new systems. If you take the system, games and online play the Xbox 360 wins hands down. If you use just what the system can do then I would chose the PS3. Xbox Live is second to none.

You just walk in the door, hand it to the service desk, they tell you to go grab a new one, they scan it, and you walk out the front with a new one

Technically, it's an extended warranty. They could make you deal with microsoft if it's still under factory warranty.

You shouldn't have a problem. The extended warranty is not through Microsoft. Best Buy will hand you a new one.

Best Buy extended warranties cover the manufacturer's warranty for an additional period of time after it expires, which is normally 90-365 days on things like gaming consoles.
