With new/young starters in the secondary and at LB one would think the Defensive coaches would have personnel packages and signals worked out by now. I found it kinda odd that Jones would bust out the coaches like this but if its true it needs to be fixed. That secondary is exremely talented so lets set them up for success.

I'm thinking more teams will be going no huddle on occasion after reading that.

I'm not sure publicly blaming your coaches is the way to get more playing time. But that's just me.

I'm not sure Miles and co. will like being called out like that in public. Especially since Miles does so much to protect the player private info (R.P.) from the media.

Uh oh...I don't think we've heard the last of this. While true, I doubt the coaches wanted this to be out there in the press. Score one for Guilbleaux, he stirs up shite again.

Well, it's true. I mentioned that as being a problem a couple of weeks ago.

That's it. We're done. Prepare for a five or six loss season.

Everyone can see it. I have seen several defensive players impatiently waving to the sideline for the play right as the ball is snapped.

I think it does go both ways though......inexperience and untimely signals.

IF this is indeed the case and they work it out, holy shite!

A player has to be an absolute dipshit to spout off to the media like that.

Here's to you Chad Jones: blame everyone but yourself.

Seriously, signalling issues need to be fixed by Mallory/Peveto quick. The last thing a young secondary needs is an undecisive and confusing sideline of coaches.

However, the only thing a player should say to the media is
"We're working on getting it better. It's just some growing pains. That's all. We have the talent, etc.etc.etc."

Chad will learn this lesson the hard way. Don't say anything that might be considered negative to the press.....especially not to Gilbleaux.

"I messed up," Jones said. "I was supposed to take the back out, and I came up on the receiver. You see, I was thinking I was playing nickel. But I was supposed to be in the box at linebacker for running back containment. So that's on myself."

He did blame himself, also...a couple of times.

Yep, it's called leadership. I imagine some of his teammates aren't too happy with him right now. Keep this stuff internal and give the standard boring answers to the media.

The paragraph before that one had this statement, basically saying he messed up "because":

quote:

"I miss coverages because I'm running on the field, and my back is toward the coaches while they're giving the play signal.

Miles is crazy like a fox, but I doubt it. This sounds like a young player running his mouth and trying to explain why he looks so bad defensively so far this season. Not a good sign IMO. Pelini would have had this shite shut down from the git-go.

Jones isn't the only one saying it:

"When the offense is sped up, we're having a hard time getting the right personnel on the field and getting the right calls and checks in, because we're still looking to the sideline trying to get the base call," junior safety Harry Coleman said. "By the time we get it straight the ball has been snapped, and so sometimes guys are out there just playing ball and not knowing what the call is."

I remember a lot of rantards calling for Pelini's head after the first few games.

Well I wasn't one of them, and I was talking about Pelini shutting down speaking like that to the press, not the defensive play.
